Picked up a Barista express recently and have burned through beans dialling it in! Was using Mahers Italian but fancy something different now. Recent likes were Badger and Dodo Colombia, Ponaire Connoisseur and Bell Lane house blend.

Any recommendations for something chocolate and caramel like? Cheap or free delivery always appreciated too!

If you like Bell Lane house - maybe try Moondust or Black Tie. SHIP50 for free shipping over €50 I think.

I have a Delonghi Magnifica - I had the Ponaire Christmas Blend back in January and it was a beautiful cup of coffee. The Vice Christmas blend was also very good.
Then I had Cloud Picker Formation, which was only OK. Now using Ponaire Bob-O-Link and finding it quite weak. I have a bag of Ponaire Mexican Jaguar to try next.
Any recommendations for something with a bit of a kick to it? I think I prefer dark roast beans. TIA!

Ponaire columbian might fit the bill - delivered 30 odd quid a kilo with 2 day lead time.

Just started it and so far so good.

Just finished Ponaire Connoisseur and found it a bit bland. I think I prefer a richer coffee.

Starting on Blue Butterfly Xate blend and like it so far. Waterford based company. https://www.bluebutterfly.ie/

Don't give nearly enough information about their beans on the site or shop. If you click on the pictures you can find out a bit more but not everyone will be able to do that.

Good prices for the kilo bags, but would still want a bit more info.

Yes I’d agree with you. My other half ordered them based on a recommendation but I wouldn’t have gone for it based on the website either.

Trying different coffees at moment, asides from the Honduran what do you recommend? Was gonna buy a few at the same time and try each out.

Got a selection from Art of Coffee in Carrick on Shannon. Free delivery when you spend over €30.

If anybody is after a good de-caff, their Peruvian Organic one is delicious.

Was bought a few bags if Ariosa for valentine's, girlfriend knows me too well. Just started on their Cabin fever blend and glad I got it out of the way first it's very poor and just doesn't smell great. Taste wise it's passable in milk. Have 2 more bags to go both single origin hoping they will be better.
    Anyone had similar experiences before?

The kilo of Bell Lane black tie is looking very attractive sitting behind them

Only opened my Bell Lane Black Tie there about 10min ago.

Haven't been wowed by their stuff tbh, so hopefully the BLBT is decent.

Herself grabbed some Rooibos from Maher's on Wednesday and tacked on some coffee for me. So I'll be sorted a while yet before having to make choices again.

Had one of the other blends. Price was right, coffee mediocre. Let me know how the black tie goes.

    OK, So cloudpicker use fastway.

I don't think I'll be ordering again, they are worse than useless and can't get any useful info out of their customer service and no response at all from cloudpicker.

Fastway had a status of "Arrived in Depot" at 3am this morning, then "out for delivery" around 7am. Then at 4pm back to "arrived in Depot" so I've no idea where it is but they haven't delivered it.

I would describe the Indian Pearl Mountain I am drinking as vanilla fudge, though I am very bad at naming tastes, which isn't caramel, but closeish. Velo sell something which I believe is the same thing - Ratnagiri Estate: https://velocoffee.ie/collections/kg-bags/products/copy-of-india-ratnagiri-estate-225g

I think out of the 3 I bought it was the best. So that's a start. But give me a week with it for a proper description.

The French and Italian blends arrived from Maher's this morning. Ordered Wednesday ihtht. Incredible service.

Always rated bell Lane as fairly mediocre

Yeah, never had them before and I grabbed some as it was cheap and free delivery. Worth it. Perfectly fine stuff. But not up there with Ponaire or WCC by any stretch.

Art of Coffee will be hit next after the current batch is done.

I actually thought the Bell Lane espresso house blend was good. I ran out and got a bag of B&D from Framer Browns in Rathmines, roast date 5/1/21. Didn’t mind, I’m getting nice hit from it.

I think their local depot must be utterly useless.
Artofcoffee also use them and my orders have always arrived on from them but might be down to the depot they leave from in the first place

The problem with Fastway is their franchise system, most other crowds like DPD etc you can only set up a franchise as a depot and hire drivers, with Fastway you can just get assigned an area and basically work as a self employed driver. All you need is a van and to pay the franchise fee and you're up and running with nobody to really answer to if you're taking the mick with it because it'd just be money out of your own pocket.

I'm on the B&D single origin 1kg sub myself at the moment - it's great! It's only €156 iirc. Really looking forward to hitting the Brazilian in a couple of days, as I love Brazilian beans (I'm a crowd pleaser what can I say)
Do they send email notice for every monthly shipment? Tracking number etc. What courier service they normally using ?

It's Fastway - honestly the only things that really puts me off renewing it when it's up. You don't get any email that it has shipped or that it's coming whatsoever in my experience - it just arrives randomly (if you're lucky!) I believe it gets shipped last Weds of the month so should arrive on the Thurs but with fastway who knows!

They were the same few years back .Nothing changed, I see. Good coffee and bad order management.
Fasway not even bother to knock or ring anymore with current COVID climate.
Just dropping package at the doorstep and hopefully you’ll find it same day before
    rain completely destroys it.

It seems an post have a got a lot more competitive recently so you think they would consider changing. I might email them and suggest it - it would be great if a few people did!

Fastway 'lost' a 20kg bag of seed oats on me, what chance have you with a little bag of coffee beans?

Yeah, I was on the live chat with cloudpicker on Friday but no response, left my number and email address but no response. This was at 4pm Friday so maybe no one checking over the weekend.

Fastway got back to say it would be delivered within 2 working days, so basically saying the same as the app. No response on if Saturday is a working day or not and no response to how it was on a van for delivery and now back at the depot.

Coffeeangel in future for me, order Wednesday you will have it Thursday at the very latest.

I've moved house since my last order so I rang them to ask who delivers to my new address. When they said Fastway I said I wouldn't be ordering as I don't need the hassle.

I agree re coffee angel but I wish they had more choice on the single origin front.

I was just after a KG of espresso beans so should just have gone with the forsa Gala.

Finally took a chance on some Ponaire. Hope it's as good as it's made out, pricey enough.

Went for some Colombian and Ethiopian special

OK for someone looking to buy beans for the sage barista express... Are beans just beans?
As in I see mention of espresso beans etc

My go to would be to buy a bag of beans just off 3fe or West Cork etc
