Hi, I’ve just heard that I’m high up on one of the panels in a department role and I’ve heard from other people that have jobs there that a hearing test if required. Has anyone had this done this for a department role abs where did you get it done if in Dublin? Thanks

Specsavers do them IIRC - maybe not all stores but many do...?

Presume it (or similar) would be the fastest/easiest way.

I presume you'd be told exactly what the test should cover....

Must be for a very specific role....BOL!

Can I ask what kind of role this is? Phone - based?

Its for an agriculture role. To be honest, not sure why I need a hearing test for it!!

It's a base line hearing test. So if you claim for hearing loss due to the working environment they will know what you could hear before you start.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for that

From your post history its a civil service position. Surely the hearing test will be organised by your prospective employer just like any regular medical. You 'heard' a hearing test is required - its highly unlikely you will have to organise this independently.

I would have thought so but a friend who is in a similar role had to organise it herself. I'm just waiting for them to clarify do I need to or not

Thanks, some kind of outdoor role presumably, not just office based?

I think so. They actually haven't clarified the exact role yet. My friend who works in that department is office based though and she had the same so I'll hold off and wait until I hear from them before organising anything.
