Shower replacement query. Electric or pumped?

    Hi All.

I am looking to renovate my ensuite in the near future.

I currently have a Triton T90 SR, which I find to be quite good.
However, I am thinking of changing to a thermostatic shower - for aesthetic reasons mostly, but also with the hope of reducing shower noise even further.

My dhw is heated by a grant vortex boiler, and I believe my tank is about 90 litres.

I am also thinking of getting Solar PV in the next 12-24 months, and would be looking to fit a diverter to avail of "free" hot water. That would mostly likely include an upgrade to our water tank, increasing in capacity to about 300l.

Although I have a grant vortex boiler installed in the not too distant past, I would like to think that I would be moving towards Air to Water heat pump at some stage in the future as well.

Considering all this, should I stick with an electric shower? Or should I fire ahead with changing to a thermostatic shower?
What are the pros and cons of either?

    Thank you

There's no sense in having an electric shower and the upgrades you are proposing.

Regarding the heat pump, you'd have to find out how much investment it will take to improve the building fabric to a level most suitable for a heat pump

So perhaps the solar PV with a diverter could be the answer?

I'm not very familiar with what's needed for heat pumps

Seai.ie is a good site for info on heat pumps and grants that are available.

The solar PV would be a good start
