    That wasn't even close

    A grim outing for Burns

It actually does. The damage was done with the red card yet people choose to blame a sub who got a kick wrong.

Oh he beat himself up for deliberately making a dirty hit on a defenseless player? That's grand so, straight back in to the team then.

He shouldn't line out again. Cost us the match, and frankly that's a disgusting, premeditated cheap shot that could've seriously injured the Welsh player

I don’t think it was premeditated. Yes, he deserved to get sent off, but it was reckless rather than deliberate.

POM should be made walk home.

Saw a lot of positives, think we could win all remaining games.

Unforgiveable from Burns, absolutely nothing which justifies giving him another chance this 6 Nations. No head whatsoever.

I can’t remember a worse fly half playing for Ireland than Burns.

Unfortunate end to the game. Huge performance and great heart with 14 men for 4/5 of the game. They deserved more than that but a few big mistakes cost us when everything has to go right from the 15th min on. Have to give them credit for that. Could easily be on here moaning about a 30 point loss.

Afraid you're giving us a little too much credit there. This is a poor Wales side. Scotland will fancy beating both Wales and Ireland on that showing.

That loss is all on POM.
Shocking thing to do to another player and i hope he gets a deserved multiple match ban.

Fair dues to everyone else for sticking with it right to the end.

Keenan, henshaw, ringrose, stander, porter and Beirne were very good.
    Good to see furlong back

Ringrose is just getting better and better.

This is as bad a situation that Irish rugby has been in, in the 21st century.

    Grim days.

It's not and not even close. Great play from the pack, scrum with a man down and not a peno given away. Lineout was excellent with a few steals.

Keenan at Full back looks a good ticket. Ringrose is world class. Henshaw solid all day.

At 10 we are in trouble Sexton was not great but Burns less said the better. At 9 Murray has never got back to his best and needs more sniping than kicking.

Bad pass to lose 20 metres, then within a minute kicks the penalty over the endline.

    Get out of here ffs

I thought burns' decision to kick cross field with 8 minutes to go was bad, then gareth davies gazumped him with a absolutely brain dead decision to kick a meaningless grubber down the line with 10 seconds left and not to be out down, burns pips him at the finished for the Second Worst Decision of the match award.

This. I thought Scotland kicking it back to England with a minute left yesterday was bizarre too. Really sometimes think the importance of possession isn't beaten into these players enough. Game management hasn't really evolved in 50 years.

They’d want to be if they are representing Ireland. The breed of player we have today is a lot poorer than 20 years ago.

20 years ago we were losing against italy

These are the sort of mistakes you didn't see under Schmidt. I know a lot of people didn't like our style of play, but it was error free and we didn't so routinely shoot ourselves in the foot.
This deserves to be quoted. Billy ******

Can we take a minute out of giving out about Ireland to recognise just how off the charts stupid Wales are? Their finish to that game made Finn Russell look intelligent

    Fair play, lads.
    Hang it all on Burns...

Stupid stupid decisions and poor execution from some of the “senior” squad members..

We could actually have won that game with basic execution even in the last 9 mins with 3 penalties.

Anyone with the slightest grasp of sports psychology will know that the 14 men/10 man team etc can and have pulled it off but it requires discipline, fronting up BUT basic completion of task is essential.

POM being sent off was never going to make it an easy day at the office but really poor execution and some strange infield decisions will make it all the harder

Yeah, he gets away with the excuse of what he brings with his physicality. I haven't seen much of him with Munster lately but it's been a very long time since he played well for Ireland.

Both players could have had terrible games. POM being an idiot doesn't excuse an out half putting in some crap kicks

Out lineout was a looot better defensively and offensively in Fairness, time will tell if it’s oconells influence or if Wales were crap!

Some of you are being way too harsh on Burns based on just one kick.
It was his penalty kick that got us to within 5 to begin with.

    This too shall pass.

It’s not all O’Mahonys fault. Idiotic card, but we actually took the lead with 14 men. In the second half there were far too many poor mistakes from the team.

Positives were Henderson, Beirne, Kilcoyne, Keenan, and Henshaw. Furlong looked decent coming back in only his second 40 mins since injury.
