Is there any need for separate Galway County and City forums?

Looking at the amount of active topics in the Galway County and City forums I'm not sure if there is enough going on to justify having two different forums. Just putting it out there.

Apologies if this isn't the right place to discuss this.

Personally I don’t think so, also the county forum is dead I never even check it to be honest and any thread that gets moved there might as well be closed as it will get so few hits imo.

Just because Galway county has less traffic than city doesn't mean it doesn't have a use.
Why do we want to discuss parking in Ballinasloe in this forum?

It actually have about the same or more traffic than other bigger regional forums, like Cork County.

God yes! Please merge them! I've thought about this for ages

The county forum is pointless and annoying. For example, I live in the county but work in the city but I rarely if ever post in the county forum because its dead with threads often going days or weeks without a look in.

I'd love to discuss county stuff, but its a dead board.

I feel you would have a much more lively forum if they were merged.

Saying its not as dead as another dead county forum is a weak argument for it to remain.

I'd wager there's others who feel the same.

    What about a poll?

    Options in the poll:
    • I support merging the Galway City & County forums
    • I don't support merging the Galway City & County forums

    Simple.

If you want arguments for/against to include on the poll as a prelude I'll happily draw up a list of "for" arguments.

Can we merge the city and country councils at the same time?

Isn't this adding to the problem? If you were to post more in county wouldn't it help it thrive?

No news from upstairs yet. Some threads from county moved over as a precursor of what to come.

Just wondering if this is on a trial basis or a permanent change now?

Does it have a bicycle lane?

It will have...... all us country bumpkins will be pedalling in and leaving our bikes tied up to poles all over the pedestrianised streets. ;)
