Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes that's correct, it would only really be the Tesla models that a VRT charge comes in to play.

Thanks, reason why I was unsure is that its shows the vrt as 7% of omsp

If it's originally registered in NI your fine, if it has been britain don't forget about VAT, maybe import duty (but I think the leaf is made in Wales, so that might not apply

The cars I have been looking at are privately owned in NI so assume registered with the owner

Just make sure that owner didn’t import from the uk mainland.

Could someone in the know post how importing an EV from UK works now?

Its all crazy confusing to me

    Looking at a 62kWh Leaf on pistonheads €26000, 2020, 16,000km

    Zero vrt
Delivered to my door is €500 or so with a haulier

But what about Vat and all those other bits?

Will I get in for €29,000?

    No.

You will have to add 21% VAT (this goes back up to 23% in a few weeks time) and 10% import duty

I'm afraid it's end of story. No more car imports from the UK, not even zero VRT zero NOx EVs...

Welcome to the Brexit, Sir! I'm sorry.

I wonder is enough of the Leaf made in the uk to be classed as made in the UK, Might not have import duty. - but with the VAT its doesnt make a damn difference.

This is it, you probably could find a Leaf in NI though. That's still part of the EU for tax reasons, so zero import duty and zero VAT bringing in from there.

Then duty/customs may be due on it. Separate to the whole VRT thing.

Only if the driver is smoking.

The car has to be originally registered in NI. Hence why the car the OP mentioned will attract customs duty.

If the car is properly imported from GB to NI it attracts no vat or customs. ie If it comes with a customs declaration

Think everyone is waiting for the first person to import from NI to get first hand knowledge of what happens
