    Yes.

Its always easier to fool people than to prove to them they have been fooled.

I predict 10,000 new cases announced at 6.01 today.

If they announce less it means lockdown is working.

    You are welcome.

I predict that we will diagnose less cancer cases, less heart disease than any other 12 months period....we can thank "lockdown science" for all the good news!!!!

Looks like from the latest letter of doom from saint Tony that lockdowns are here to stay.the new variants are going to **** up the vaccines and get used to living in fear and never talking to anyone outside your bubble or the four walls again

    Ahhh the lockdown science.

We are still to get a link showing a study that outlines the many benefits of a lockdown.

It must have so many benefits that it takes a long, long time to conduct :pac:

No. Not it could not. It did not happen.

    Not even close.

But you do get that it "could have ".

Your talking with hindsight don't forget

Any links showing that outdoor dinning causes increase in covid incidence rates?

Nope but they also shut down non essential retail to stop people gathering

Retail and hairdressers etc will come back before outdoor dining

The benefit is having a health system that doesn't collapse.

Do you remember when we lifted the lockdown in December and it was immediately followed by a surge of cases that threatened to overwhelm the system unless further action was taken?

You were wearing your blue jumper?

The point is he said "could have" not definitely will .

    4.9 million X 0.6%

Where are you getting 0.6 from, remember, we have no accurate figure on how many people have actually been infected.

Christ this really is depressing. How so many people are living there lives devoid from a basic connection with reality is beyond me

In NPHETs latest letter to Donnelly, they are more or less conceding that lockdown doesn’t work and they are expecting cases to rise. Strange strategy to pursue...

In its letter to Stephen Donnelly on 21 January, NPHET said the country remains in a very vulnerable position despite great progress in recent weeks.

It warned that "we will all find it challenging to maintain the very low levels of social contact and adherence to social distancing and hygiene measures required to maintain suppression".

The letter said it is likely that the effective reproduction number will drift upwards in the coming weeks.

He got it wrong by a very big margin though for someone in his position it's a bit inexcusable

That's why lockdowns are meant to be short term

    Not months on end

Multiple international serology are converging at around 0.6%. In areas that have already seen > 0.2% of the population die, cases are still surging, indicating that any slowdown due to immunity has not kicked in. Starting to show up in Israel where vaccinations are making the difference

    It’s a pessimistic guess.

And the cost is cutting funding to the same health care system in the future, ultimately resulting in more deaths. Unless you think lockdowns are gonna make Ireland rich....

Saying that compliance becomes harder and harder as time goes on isn't the same as saying "lockdowns don't work"

That interpretation of the meaning of his words is bizarre.

One is a potential future problem, the other is an immediate definite problem.

    It kind of is though...

They expect compliance to drop and cases to rise so.. more lockdown.

    Its not strange. its idiotic.

"hey - you lot not following restrictions? terrible. we will introduce even more restrictions for you not to follow!"

So basically we arent dealing with any problems we are just delaying them.

Arghus what healthcare system can 20 and 30 year olds expect when they reach 65? Better or worse than we currently have?

I am just not so sure we got a good deal here...

Compliance is needed for the lockdowns to work. Compliance drops therefore the lockdowns stop working. There is no way around this, humans are not automatons. Maybe in theory lockdowns work, in practice not so much. That's why the WHO only advise using them as a last resort and not as the primary means of control. Look at the unrest bubbling up all over europe. Thats what happens when you try to suppress and control human nature.

Ok, thanks for the hint of where you are getting the numbers.

Given we haven't a clue how many people have been infected with covid in this country, I'd be interested to hear how they have managed to accurately count the number of infections in every other country?

Because if we don't know how many people have been infected, then every other number is bogus....which makes the projections bogus...you know the projections that are driving Government policy.

You really twisted his words to suit yourself didnt you

Compliance getting harder is in no way saying lockdowns dont work

This seems to be the "science" they keep on about.

Someone makes an outrageous projection and convinces authorities to lockdown, when the projections don't materialise, hey bingo, it's the science folks!!!

Of course you have to ignore all the parts of the world that didn't lock down but that part is easy!!!

And of those 2M deaths worldwide, the vast majority died with the virus not because of it. That’s per WHO.

The hysteria continues, however. Facts seem to be an afterthought.
