This woman and her husband can live in their house comfortably without any financial implications on them until they die. Its not her problem - I dont know why she is crying. The banks gain but thats what she signed up to. There is no story here.

It's a good warning to be fair. If you take out a loan at 6% compound interest and pay nothing back for 16 years you'll end up owing more money than you got.
    Who knew?

    Joe certainly doesn't.

The gravity of the amount hits Joe when he realises that she owes the bank almost 50% of his net wage for Liveline.

She was a bit fuzzy about what she did with the 80k. She mentioned a car and her sons college. Unless it was a jag and he went to Harvard, there should be plenty of change left over.

Would selling the house to the lender and rent back be an option?, she will be there as long as she lives and have a bit of extra money as well.

The question Duffy should be asking was the product missold.
Emotion is to be expected from an 80 year old, 47 years in her house but unless he delves into the why and how this is just an emotional peice - again

    Duffy - 2-oh-6, feck off!
