The best way in my opinion would be to measure the old string and order the same.

The type of materials used for the production of the string depends on the type of bow and the materials of which the limbs are made. Most modern bows are adapted to stiffer threads such as Fast Flight, some beginner bows work better and longer with Dacron strings.

My old string has broke so can I just measure the length from top to bottom and then Order same length ? I’m not sure if the make of string on it as I was giving the bow long time ago .

What type of bow do you want a string for?
    What is the bow length?
Theoretically, when ordering a string for an Olympic bow with a length of, for example, 70" the string maker / shop should know that you need a string length 64" (dacron) or 67"-67.5" (FF).

The bow I have is a PSE stinger compound bow . I measured the broke string from top to bottom was 87.5 inches long but I’m not sure if that’s best way to measure. Bow length is 38.5 inch from top of the wheel to the top of the other wheel. Is that right way to measure?

Are you looking for information about length cables length for compound bow not regular string for regular bow :D
    Okey ...
Check sticker on the lower limb bow, if not there ask google "pse stinger XXXX cables lenght" (where XXXX is the year of production) because I am not sure if all years are the same length, I do not make cables for compound bends. To prepare cables for compound bows, you need a 200 or 300 lbs press to stretch them, and I do not have one. Stinger need two cables, bowstring if i good remember was around 89" and some 1/2" - 5/8" and buss cable 34" and some 1/4" - 3/8" i really dont remember.
    or
You can order from a string maker :D
If you are not afraid of international shipments and manufacturers from Central Europe, I recommend my colleague Jacek https://www.facebook.com/jaco.placo.7 from http://www.maxbowstrings.pl/
or another professional bowstring maker http://bowstring.pl/

    Cheers
