Mings taking it down brings him on. If it had deflected off Ming's he's offside but not if he intentionally plays it. If Ming's had turned and backpassed, he's not offside. Chesting it down no different.

That was my understanding of the rule as well

So Mings should have left it?
Once he touches it a new "phase" begins?

Mings should have just headed it back where it came

On another not - Gundogan given his owners some value

He was offside when the ball was kicked surely.

    Absolutely disgusting.

Mings just made a balls of it, end of.

At what stage does that play become end? If Mings controls it and plays it back blind, is he still offside?

    Double cleanie :)

Yes. But Mings intentionally brings the ball down and that ends the phase where he is offside.

Nice end to that really, can take the clean sheets and thought grealish and Watkins were unlucky really. I'll live but a disaster of a week. Bruno to grab a few points would be nice now.

    Double cleanie :)

    Triple cleanie :pac:

Just the 53 points between them

Stream was being a bit tonight so only in now.

What a 2nd half that was, had it all. Misery with KDB going off but absolute overwhelming joy with Gundogan scoring the penalty then. One door closed and one door then opened. And add in a Stones CS.

I don't think I'll be able to watch

    Sterling(C), Dias, Grealish and Martinez

This could go wrong in so many ways

    More ****ing disappointment

It’s not a new phase of play. He’s literally there on him. Mings doesn’t even get his head up. Very strange decision and even stranger they didn’t check VAR.

I think a city goal was coming anyways but very very strange goal.

Ferdinand making a clown of himself now saying it's offside when it has just been explained to him that it isn't

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,542 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Ps. Well in all on Targett, nice touch that getting the CS.

He's a few yards behind him. var would have checked it I imagine but it's simple, new phase or not, Ming taking it down intentionally means he's not offside. It's not hard.

    VAR check everything.

Ref on BT later said that he wasn't offside as per the rules

If Villa play like that they will crush Newcastle which augurs well for Grealish owners

Problem being that the rule is new, not very well known and quite frankly is silly

No United players here now next. I'll just be behind the couch!

After initially saying it was offside. If the refs don't know the rules we're all screwed.

And didn't even acknowledge that he got it wrong in game. Really poor.

Just on Grealish he was very fortunate not to pick up a suspension for receiving his 5th yellow tonight. Two occasions where he could have got booked, one late on KDB and the other in the last couple of minutes for a late challenge.

Relieved as an owner that he gets to play against an out of form Newcastle

    Targett injury bad?

I don't like that rule but very clever play by Rodri in fairness to him, he knew what he was doing.

He was very lucky, the late push was 100% a yellow card, Moss was probably too wrecked to go all the way over to book him!
