One of our local characters got a visit from a friend. He had a three bar fire on, the room was roasting.
Jaysus your electricity bill says the friend. Ah not to worry it’s not mine I borrowed it from the woman next door. Margarets story of electric fires reminded me of that.

Not when it goes de wrong way to de head, wan can only scream out at de top of wan's voyis. It's much more common phenomenon dan peepul will care to admit.

I've a similar condition to SligoJoe at the moment except it's in my shoulder so to speak and I made it worse when I rolled over to look at the radio when he said it.

    What happened you?

I'm almost back to normal since. That "click" did the trick this afternoon. I instinctively reached up to move my hair out of my eye and it clicked back in. De paaaaaiiiin before and just after that was off the scale. Still a bit tender but nowhere as bad as last night. no medication required bar a drop of whiskey. Doctor SJ says "No work till Monday."

Are you new here? The mudders and babbies will get the short shrift.

    Will do. It sounded familiar.

I thought the caller started the call with......'before the days of he males and shemales' I may have picked him up wrong.
    The Old Main Drag
    The Pogues

When I first came to London I was only sixteen
With a fiver in my pocket and my ole dancing bag
I went down to the dilly to check out the scene
And I soon ended up on the old main drag
There the he-males and the she-males paraded in style
And the old man with the money would flash you a smile
In the dark of an alley you'd work for a five
For a swift one off the wrist down on the old main drag

In the cold winter nights the old town it was chill
But there were boys in the cafes who'd give you cheap pills
If you didn't have the money you'd cajole or you'd beg
There was always lots of tuinol on the old main drag

One evening as I was lying down by Leicester Square
I was picked up by the coppers and kicked in the balls
Between the metal doors at Vine Street I was beaten and mauled
And they ruined my good looks for the old main drag

In the tube station the old ones who were on the way out
Would dribble and vomit and grovel and shout
And the coppers would come along and push them about
And I wished I could escape from the old main drag.

And now I'm lying here I've had too much booze
I've been spat on and shat on and raped and abused
I know that I am dying and I wish I could beg
For some money to take me from the old main drag

Don't know. It was throbbing when I woke up on Sunday. Haven't been able to raise my arm or lie on my left side since. It feels like what I imagine a trapped nerve might be.
It doesn't feel too bad this morning but I haven't moved much yet.
