With those upcoming fixtures I think the run of fun is about to end.

And yet there’s nobody in the price bracket that I’m really eyeing up for a replacement.

Having the 2 City CBS means I’m only ever eyeing up one extra defender to throw in anyway.

I switched to three city defenders this week. Kept Holding as one of the main reasons to BB. At 4.4 can afford to bench him and have him come in for any of those that are benched

20 from my BB with areola and wood to go. Delighted with that as no hits needed to get my bench and wont need to be constantly thinking of 15 available players going forward.

Can’t see myself moving away from KDB so I think I will stay with 2. Looks like Dier, Dallas and Holding fighting for one spot each week after the City defenders but I will probably switch Dier out tbh because it just doesn’t feel necessary to have that much invested in 3 players for 1 starting spot each week.

Big shout out to the lads who convinced me to go Holding over Dier.

Grealish confirmed as not being one of the Covid lads btw. Never had it apparently.

Grealish and Martinez both pictured in training today, so a nice way to end Blue Monday. Good night all and take care.

And even better for owners was watching that Newcastle team tonight, they're a shambles.

    Watkins also at training

    84 (-4)
Delighted to hear Watkins and Martinez trained.
Zouma the only other who has yet to play for me.

BB is 16pts and Soucek to go thanks to Leno and Holding tonight.

    13 to play hopefully.

You’d almost want Zouma to play a minute just to give that extra bit of justification to the bench boost!!

If Zouma doesn’t play you’re left having to subtract sub number 1 from the actual bench boost total.

I wonder will people be having that with Johnstone tomorrow or if he will be back.

Confirmation this week to my theory that it's very very rarely a good idea to take a -8 hit, even in a double GW.

Kane out for Vardy, Holding out for Coufal, Bruno out for KDB.

Not a disaster, but certainly not worth the hit - hope I'm corrected after the next set of games!

Also, Callum Wilson is a donkey.

Killing thing is he isn't, he jumped from one sinking ship to another, if I were him I would be having a serious chat with my agent.

The word is though that Villa were in for him aswell (glad we went for Watkins instead) but they went for Newcastle because they were willing to offer him the same wage with a long term contract despite the fact that he is now almost 29.

Newcastle and Wilson are going the way Bournemouth did last season. Promising start but then going on a slide and not being able to stop it.

I'd be surprised if Bruce is around much longer

As for Wilson picking Newcastle over Villa, Newcastle did look to be a better team than Villa. Villa barely stayed up. I'm sure he's regretting it now though

Going by training pics, Villa have Martinez, Cash, Targett, Konsa and Mings (the back 5), Douglas and McGinn are both there as the centre mid partnership, and Grealish and Watkins were both there.

Didn't see any of Barkley, El Ghazi, Traore and Trezeguet (although surely they're not all out and some of them just weren't in the pictures taken) so I guess its a matter of which 2 of those 4 plays with the other 9.

It definitely doesn't look like the bare bones post-COVID Villa that some feared anyway.

Barkley listed in other ones now also. Doesn't appear we will be under strength at all in terms of personnel. A week out of training will surely have an impact though.

They could have more intense training since Saturday though? Given they are all rested.

Tomorrows game will be very interesting, as someone with no City players but Grealish and Martinez I need help. A lot of it :pac:

Any update on zouma, is he still out?

He was on the bench v Fulham. Surely fit?

Also, storm Christopher (who comes up with these) is coming to UK. Tomorrow game could be well wet. Liverpools game could be very wet also. Worst GW to play TC Salah..

Ah yeah, hard to really know what the impact is gonna be like. Still relatively uncharted waters but Fulham seemed to do ok afterwards

Noticed a couple of very successful bench boosts in my leagues this morning....mainly with the likes of Holding, ESR, Saka etc.

Like all successful scenarios it seems very obvious in hindsight.....in form Arsenal against a dire Newcastle. I guess the DGW shenanigans put me off the scent :-(

Trezeguet confirmed himself that he had Covid 7 days ago, so gotta assume he won't make it

I think too many people look for immediate returns from hits and/or put too much emphasis on DGW - and get in players that they don't really want long term, or get they get caught up in the hype.

Vardy has a hip problem that he's had for some time - maybe this is why he doesn't look as lively in games as he did last season for instance.

Going forward do you want Vardy? Or did you just see two nice games and dream of glory?

It's always worth a hit if the players you bring in are the players you want medium/long term and if you didn't pull trigger price movements would go against you, and the difference isn't too great.

Traore now confirmed training also so regardless of whether he is healthy or no, El Ghazi would be my tip to miss out, simply because he isn’t suited to playing on the right, and Barkley being back means Jack is likely to move left.

A bit of both really - with son and Kane, I saw slightly too much reliance on Spurs so Vardy seemed like a decent replacement and freed up a few quid to bring in KDB.

But definitely got lured in by the DGW. No question. Only positive is that I've kept all my chips - here's hoping they're still of use later in the season!

Lampard made a comment about playing Rudiger because he needed his "personality" so hard to know if Zouma will get back in. I'll try and find the quote.

I mean he’s good for fantasy so that’s all that really matters right?
