1500 Brazilians into Ireland in the past fortnight tells its own story. I have first hand knowledge that a considerable amount of them get straight back into work be it cleaning etc. When all this is over we really need to take a look at our immigration and visa policies, particularly with regard to Brazilian 'students' most of whom work on the black market. One of the few positives of the pandemic has been the lack of Brazilian manned rickshaws in the city centre pushing drugs and Brazilian prostitutes. Dublin is drowning.

Have you shared your first hand knowledge with the authorities?

Considerable amount alright..... Considerable whiff of bull**** from your post.

Unfortunately, the death numbers will be significantly higher at some point...

Yes, Paul Reid said early last week (when we had 30,000 done) that we'd have 75,000 done by last Friday.

The new low will be when there is under 50 in intensive care...200 and rising at the minute

Pubs won't open until cases are below 500 in my opinion (after testing of close contacts start again).

Only reason it will be this high is because the most vulnerable will be vaccinated before we reach that level.

Even with that they will only open if the icu numbers are under 50.

Nobody is, the WHO are drawing attention to the fact that they could have told others about it earlier. While the effect of that is now moot it's not an unfair comment for future events.

You're forgetting the all powerful super effective emphasis on personal responsibility. Case numbers can always be higher when you make allowances for this magic fudge factor.

Australia unlikely to be opening borders this year.
Australia is unlikely to fully open its borders in 2021 even if most of its population gets vaccinated this year as planned, says a senior health official.

No evidence to date that the death was caused by the vaccine.

Roughly 1% of people who are clinical frailty scale 9 die every day.

    Corelation does not mean causation.

RIP Solson Saviour. So close to the vaccines being rolled out too.

We owe so much to the HCWs. A lot of the rest of us can limit our exposure to covid19 but there's no option for those working on the front line in our hospitals and nursing homes.

It makes me angry that so many are giving so much and being so selfless throughout this pandemic and others are whinging because they can't meet friends for a coffee or their freedom is being impacted.

Everyone who can limit contacts should in support of everyone who hasn't the option. Yes, it's ****, yes, it's boring, lonely, etc but there are thousands in this country who don't have options and have to go to hospitals and nursing homes in pressurised, difficult and upsetting conditions at the moment.

We had 77,303 done by the end of Wednesday, 13 January. They will likely have slowed down a bit since due to the restricted supply of vaccines currently. Would still expect to be over 100k by now though.

Ronan Glynn just compared the level of risk in special schools to the risk in the briefing room. What an appalling misrepresentation.

It was 29 but just because the death happened after having the vaccine doesn't necessarily mean vaccine was the cause of death.

After they eventually warned the rest of the world. They did manage to deny it for a while.
It was noticeable in January that it was coming and extremely obvious by mid-February - we then did nothing for another month.

Yes I have indeed and actually a few (Portuguese speaking) members of An Gardaí have infiltrated a few of the infamous Brazilian WhatsApp groups which organise some of the infamous lockdown parties such as the one on the farmer's land in Meath before Christmas as well as widespread drug dealing and soliciting for sexual acts. It's endemic in Dublin and becoming more prevalent elsewhere in the country - these Brazilians basically enter in their droves unvetted and unfettered.

    Why are you asking me?

For what it's worth, my opinion is that it's better to have the spare doses in somebody's arm over them being binned.

Those vaccines could be used for more vulnerable at risk or front line workers
