So, I got a new Skoda Fabia at the end of December. Changing jobs and losing my work ute (I'm here in Australia) so needed a cheap car to get to and from the new job. Didn't want the headaches of overpriced used cars here again.

Only done 320km so far but noticed tonight both sills are bubbling like they paint has melted. Has anybody ever heard of this before. Will drop into the dealership tomorrow and see what they say.

There’s a rougher finish on car sills normally. Got pics?

It's definitely more than a rougher finish, none of it is uniform and I've never had another car with a finish this bad, even 4WD that have had a hard life off road are in better condition than this.

Looks like its body protection schultz as the clear paintwork is above the line and looking ok.

If its hot enough over there to melt tarmac what might it do to protection.

We have a 2016 Fabia here and it's exactly the same. Not sure why it's done that way? Maybe to hide the stone chips that will inevitably happen.

We have a 2018 bought new (metallic blue). It has the same finish as well. I think it looks terrible TBH

Remember body sills over here rust a lot and a current nct failure.

I'm really surprised they are made like this. It honestly looks like its melted or bubbling.

So I found this on a different forum talking about a VW Golf:
It's under body sealer painted same colour as car. Should protect the steel sill from stone chips and corrosion.

So it seems it's a VW Group thing rather than just Skoda.

That’s totally normal. More noticeable on lighter colours but nothing to worry about.

Yeah, that's factory, it's painted the body colour over the stone chip protection.

As said - perfectly normal. My Audi is the same.
