So 4 months on and we have yet another "suspect" that ultimately went nowhere and acted as a nice distraction away from the Gerry and Kate's horrible parenting?

    Surprise, surprise!

They’ve been working on this line of enquiry since early 2017, we only found out about it in June. I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it as irrelevant. Time will tell.

Last time I looked at this thread they had their man (German fella), they had hard evidence, the diggers were in and it looked like case was on the cusp of being solved.

    Still ongoing ......

haven't listened to it yet, but...

Mark Soconococococo has released a new podcast in which he interviews Mr Wolters...apparently they do have other evidence that is not released but he is saying he is not certain of a conviction therefore needs a witness statement etc.

    https://open.spotify.com/episode/12bbXhDpSVW4C0yjWm9vOu

will give it a listen to later on.

Doesn't seem to be much in the sphere on that letter.

I'm waiting a few months for a mug myself.

Can anyone just write a short paragraph of what is generally considered likely to have happened to Maddie? I've always been intrigued by this case but never really delved deeply into it.

I'll try and keep it succinct.

    No one knows.

    Well, not entirely accurate.
There's at least one person who knows - perhaps more, however that person/they are keeping quiet.

Of course it's unknown but is there not a hypothesis that most people subscribe to? Like in the case of Jon Benet Ramsey, the vast majority of people feel like the parents covered something up.

I've always thought it was likely to have been her brother, and the parents covered it up. Re the Mc Cann case, I don't think it will ever be solved to be honest. My opinion is that an opportunistic sex offender was probably watching and clocked fairly easily that there were 20-30 minute "windows" (no pun intended) of opportunity between parents/ parents friends checking on the children. With all the media hype it's unlikely she would have been alive for more than 24 hours after. But, who knows! Anything is possible.

It probably was Christian Brueckner who abducted and murdered her. He has also been linked to the murders of other children throughout western Europe.

Only if they are still alive. One of the locals who had suspicion cast his way, died years ago.

I can't imagine the parents could have concealed her body. They would have been panicked and would have been restricted to the distance they could have gone, and after all this time the cops have never found anything.

If they are completely innocent then my heart would go out to them. They have endured an awful amount of criticism and accusations. Obviously they erred in judgement leaving the kids unattended as they did but if she was snatched by some filthy scumbag then I think the parents are owed many an apology, not that it would make them feel any better I'd guess.

This. I've never understood how any parent could be so mean to another parent. They lost a child. That's enough, noone needs to say anything else until the truth is known. And even if it's never know imagine you were a grieving parent and received years and years of abuse for something that is already the thing that hurts you the most. I've found it all incredibly cruel.

And I've found the commentary that even if they're innocent they somehow deserve it the cruelest of all. They've paid the highest price anyone can pay for anything and who the **** are we to judge.

I always thought it was really harsh too. And people are so busy pointing the finger at them for leaving the kids, they seem to forget there was probably an actual perpetrator. Apparently it's a normal human psychology though, people fear the same thing happening to them, so they need to find an element that sets them apart i.e. the "I would never do that". It's to make themselves feel ok because if they would never do it, it wouldn't happen to them. Not making excuses for scummy mud-slinging from the safety of their armchairs. Plenty of people have taken risks with their kids, nobody is perfect.

There's also a sinister kind of warped hatred towards them because they're middle class too. You get the "oh if they were from a council estate they wouldn't get away with it" line trotted out too, and the "if she wasn't Caucasian nobody would be looking for her". Just, weird... A child is a child.

JonBenét's parents were worse - they didn't murder her but they put her in harm's way by submitting her to "beauty pageant", thus making her a sitting duck for predatory paedophiles (as opposed to those paedophiles who resist the urge). If it wasn't for her parents, her murderer would've have heard of her and so she wouldn't have been at any greater risk than any other child would have been.

To be honest, I wonder why Amy Fitzpatrick's mother hasn't been the target of such criticism for dragging Amy to Spain in the first place.

Because you personally think she should have been, or because you would have expected it from others?

Oh, never mind, I can see from a post above you're blaming JonBenet's parents too and that's exactly the commentary I don't engage in for the reasons stated above.

The JonBenet case is very odd. An intruder comes in while they are sleeping and spends several minutes writing a ransom note with paper and utensils from the house? Very odd indeed. I think there were so many strange things about that case that you couldn't help but think that something wasn't right.
