    Embarrassing from VAR
Shaw got the ball then it was a follow through, it happens in contact sport

    It's a bad challenge but I don't think it's a leg breaker

If his leg is planted it is.

Didn't think VAR could give a yellow to Shaw though?

Tricky. I don’t think it was a red for Shaw.

    Give over.

How does Neville not see that Shaw did make contact with the ball?? He clearly does first but his follow thru on the stretch catches the Burnley player.

Came to the right decision in the end.

Got the ball first, yellow probably the right call.

If it was on its own as an incident, I think you're right.

But as it affected the phase of play with Brady/Cavani, it can.

That's my understanding of it anyway.

Did he get the ball? Even if he did, you still can’t use that as an excuse to half a man.

Wonder why the ref was sent over. Would they overrule a decision for a yellow? Seems to be only for red cards or goals.

Because he got the ball it is now not dangerous?

No he didn't the Burnley player did. Shaw never touched the ball.

    Never a foul
    He was up early
    VAR embarrassing again

Stupid from Maguire there, he has the beating of his man in the air, didn't have to shove him so obviously.

Clear hand on the back, good decision by Var.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,665 ✭✭✭doc_17

    He got the ball

So is he allowed to follow through then and take him out? Not all fouls have to be deliberate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,742 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Yes he did

The touch you see, as the ball clearly is touched, can from the Burnley player, the rear view shows this. The side view makes you think it was SHaw

VAR and Kevin Friend doing a cracking job so far. Loved Friend telling Cavani to stop cheating and play the game. Also waving Pogba away for diving. Perfect.

To be fair, VAR was right to overrule the possible red card on Brady. The play never should have got they far as it was a foul by Shaw in the build up.

Yellow card was the right decision IMO. Studs on the shin is very sore. Don't think there was enough in it for a red card but definitely a foul by Shaw.
