I can see the HSE outsourcing a lot of the vaccinations.

    What do you mean

It will be all about the Data and tracking how it is spreading. If it is still shown that teens are pretty much unaffected by this thing then get teachers vaccinated and get them back in school.

It spreads just as easily in teens as in adults.

Many of these teens will have parents who are edging into higher risk age category or may themselves, their siblings or parents have underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk.

They may have elderly grandparents either living with them or in their support bubble.

Putting thirty or so people in a small poorly ventilated room for hours all around the country when community prevalence is at its highest and our track and trace system only half functioning due to overload just doesn't make sense if we want to bring this surge under control.

They are currently expected back on 1st February. When are you predicting?
Most commentators here and on Twitter seem certain that schools will be closed to the end of February, if not Paddy's Day.

There's a good chance the 1st February date will hold. Schools will be back by Valentine's Day at the very latest.

To who? Does Denis O'Brien have a vaccine administration company ?

Note to all - I am being very sarcastic there.

    Have some empathy.

Hes on "lockdown" 2 days and says he can't handle it much longer. He really needs to sort himself out imo.

It's ok, I wouldn't bother with it. Things will be fine hopefully and we can back to doing what we do best soon hopefully. Thanks again.

    Lockdown, day 2.

This is my second lockdown, being told cant work, construction and struggling.

How the hell is it ok for people to gather in shopping centres and not for 2-3 lads working outside up on a fu!king roof ?

Don't know why I'm posting TBH. I can feel myself beginning to snap already and I'm only on my second day. And by snap I mean I'm only in this for the short term , there is no way I will sign up for this long term ( lockdown after lockdown ) before I start talking matters in my own hands an ignoring the rules.

My mental health is suffering now and I know I'm not alone.

Sorry for offloading here but I had enough already and the anger is building.

Take on some kind of a physical health challenge for 3 weeks. Eg daily HIIT program, building up to 12 rounds of Sun Salutation in one go, walking to 5km and back twice a day, get a punch bag and learn it, skipping. Anything physical. Gets you out of your head and channels the energy of depression and anger and disperses it. Honestly use the next few weeks productively. Or if you dont like physical stuff pick a set of books and read them. Or paint all the windows. Or prep a veg garden space. Do something.

I just can’t see that unless the case numbers collapse quickly. How will they pick a number? The unions will request scientific data on the number chosen, which they well know doesn’t exist. I will be shocked if they open with a reasonably high number( over 200 a day).

I don't think the problem is that there is nobody to administrator the vaccines, it is that they don't have enough. My friends missus is a nurse and went to get the vaccine on Friday. She travelled to the hospital and was told they had none left, the appointment will be rescheduled.

Incredible. And people think the schools are opening at the start of February. Come on folks let's get real here.

Ignores that many of these cases reported over the last 7 days were a backlog from the previous 7.

I don’t know if other countries have backlogs in their reporting or why we do.

A large part of the surge was special cause -namely household mixing. The removal of this will have a dramatic impact believe. Would not be surprised to see a couple of weeks of 30-50% reductions.

I can see an attempt being made by NF as she has come under great criticism for her solo run from the papers and public, but it will be down to what is safe.

Disappointing for the person involved, but good news that they are using up the supplies at a fast pace.

This totally ignores the many vaccines being approved atm which will greatly speed up delivery and are easier administration like JandJ and AstraZeneca.

In a few months everyone who wants vaccine will be able to get one from their local gp or pharmacy .

Btw this was discussed here yesterday .

It ignores them, because being approved isn’t yet approved... I’m going by what we know, now.

Discussed here yesterday? Great, it’s still being discussed. I don’t need your say so to enter an opinion, thanks.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

    May she rest in peace.

Thank you so much. The kindness of strangers is overwhelming and very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone here who read my post.

Furthermore, yesterday, my Uncle and cousin both tested positive for Covid, both are unwell with my uncle being worse as my cousin is only 17. By the way, they are the opposite side of the family to my family member who died Friday night.

I'm due surgery myself on Friday, I was told last Friday morning it could be cancelled last minute, all dependent on staff shortages is what the Consultant said. Surgery due in MUH. He said things are much worse this wave than last one.

Paul Reid said the state is using private hospitals now.

So why isn't the measures as strong as last March? McDonald's still open etc.

Once everyone gets settled into remote schooling it will make it easier to stretch it out for a few more weeks. Back after the Feb mid term sounds about right.
