My uneducated view is that you could. Based on: It's pretty safe outdoors, and people walking by breathing normally are not too much of a threat to you once you are not on top of them. But vapers/smokers (and I say this as an ex smoker, not an anti smoker) generally exhale smoke/vape much more forcefully than normal exhalation. So you are clearly more likely to breath their vape in. If you are more likely to breathe their vape/smoke in, it seems reasonable that you are more likely to get contaminated by them, though I presume one breath as you pass is a low risk still.

But personally, like joggers panting heavily as they pass me on the path, I'd prefer not to be in their downstream unnecessarily. I'm sure others will disagree.

Funny you say that I saw a chap today vaping, one of those real mad cloud vape type, as is settled behind as he was walking it was still there (v soon after) as 3 people walked through it before they put their masks on heading into the Centra.

I have not been stopped at a single checkpoint in county Galway throughout the entire pandemic. Live 10k from the nearest supermarket and regularly drive to the city for work, so not as if I have been holed up at home. Have also traveled to Mayo at least once every two weeks to support an elderly relative including twice in the past week and again never say a checkpoint. Where do all these checkpoints be?

I have seen them on N59 and M6 roundabout and N17. As I said, just 2 during 2020 and 3 yesterday within 1 hour. I saw none on return journey.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Don't be so negative. Take some agency. Go on a sun holiday if you really want to. I wouldn't be on an Internet forum saying I wish I could go on one when you clearly can.

It's a choice. Literally nothing is stopping you.

Life's to short to shoulda woulda coulda.

You don't know my reasons for not being able to travel imminently.

If I want a life coach I'll pay for the service.

I'd give my left arm for a week in Malta at the minute

This totally ignores the many vaccines being approved atm which will greatly speed up delivery and are easier administration like JandJ and AstraZeneca.

In a few months everyone who wants vaccine will be able to get one from their local gp or pharmacy .

Btw this was discussed here yesterday .

It doesn’t ignore anything, they are rough calculations based on the initial implementation of the vaccine which will be from centers of care before GP’s.

We can only go on what we know, not what’s expected to transpire.

3000 would be a very good result in a week. 1000 by the end of January is about the best we can hope for.

Yes but you are not looking at what happened. We pretty much allowed a nationwide festival for two weeks which caused a huge increase in cases. Thats over. So i suspect the numbers will fall pretty quickly. Next week we will see the effect of no Xmas socialising etc.

People still have families to infect unfortunately.

I can't see it falling that fast.

Probably old news but just seeing this story now about the auld IT gremlins hampering the vaccines rollout.

Such a lazy excuse really. Sh1te system are usually down to poor management and a lack of foresight and investment. I get a shiver down my spine whenever I hear Excel sheets mentioned in relation to the HSE systems, and not in a good way.

He is only talking about one vaccine .

Australia is not doing well because of the sun. They controlled entry into the country and enforce quarantine. I would imagine that has something to do with it.

If it was due to the sun the southern US would have faired much better.

this thing peaks hard in winter, that much is clear. australia and other southern hemispheres had a peak in their winter, which was june. not saying it's the only factor but it's a big one.

    Absolutely , and nurses too!

I remember my GP trying to book people for testing in April and the system either kept crashing or would not verify that the test was booked.

Some were given 2 appointments, others had to be referred again...and they were sick !

I'd love something sunny, all inclusive food and drink. No sightseeing, just lounging in the heat sipping cold wine and reading. Those days will come again :)

I spent the morning skimming and throwing stones on a frozen lake. Great fun! I don't mind the cold at all but a week in the sun during 2021 will be just what the doctor ordered. We can see the finish line now which helps.

    5. Have a very leisurely lunch
    6. Get the bus back
    7. Have a very leisurely dinner

Those were the days, wod love it

The same excuses were used to hush anything positive on this forum during the first wave. "we don't know what the real numbers are" "we can't rely in testing figures".

The numbers are going in the right direction. We are locked down with a week now. By next weekend the figures will likely be below 1000 and hospital numbers will be starting to level off.

IIRC 1500-2000 was the best case scenario by end of January. So definitely, no.

The Christmas surge is likely over, or near it.

People are really complying now, enough anyway.

    Vaccine rates are accelerating.

January will be tough, but the picture is looking better in and for February.

Croatia won’t be long at all. You can go now (with a negative PCR test) if you have a mind to

Incorrect, will more than likely peak in the next 10 days (test wise)... hospital admissions from Xmas infections to be expected until the end of Jan
