BTC will never be 20k again.

CDC has something which should do what you are looking for (I am not using this feature myself, so I can't comment on how well it is working): https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/4170965-recurring-buy-how-does-it-work

    I’d disagree on that

ETH has a better chance of being 20k...

Goes up forever? It dropped 21% on January 4th.

    113% in the last month

    That’s up forever

100% in 3 years. Many stocks have gone up multiples more than that in the same time period

BTC could be at 60 k or 20 k in the next 4 weeks, both outcomes are very possible

Not sure why you’re so defensive

It’s my opinion, didn’t realise a counter opinion wasn’t allowed here

BTC at 20k is pretty much impossible. Any correction will be snapped up by institutions...

Defensive? I’m asking in your opinion why you think it’s going to drop, at what point, and how much. You’ve appeared out of nowhere saying the sky is going to fall without any basis of figures. Very easy to call a crash without giving specifics. :)

Its this kind of blind confidence that gets people burned... there is no certainty in this type of game.

What gives you the confidence to call my view "blind"?

The only certainty in life is that when this thread was started Bitcoin was in the $5000’s.

Nothing wrong with a positive outlook but it's worth bearing in mind many of us have seen these types of comments before. Anything can happen, including external events affecting the value of cryptos.

    e.g. BTC from 20k to 3k, Eth from 1,400 to 100 (2018)

    I'm in BTC since 2013.
In 2018 the market was mainly individuals, the market now is mainly institutions. There will be corrections but no collapse like 2018.

Etherium is not a fixed quantity token. I doubt institutional investors would be so daft as to bid it up anywhere near there.

Do you still own coins you bought in 2013?

Who said the sky is going to fall?

    I’m saying there’ll be a dip

    Hardly the same

When I bought crypto in September 2017, I watched it explode.

I went to sleep every night dreaming dreams. At one stage I was so emotionally attached to my open positions I was glowing with optimism, my future was sorted.

Then January 2018 came and I got my face ripped off.

Anything can happen at any time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,028 ✭✭✭✭cnocbui

    Yes.

Nice. Your retireent fund is sorted. BTC went from $13.30 in Jan 2013 to $946 in Dec. Taking the median, 8,861 % profit is nothing to sneeze at , congrats. :)

I'm also in since 2013, and I work in the financial industry, there aren't as many "institutions" into crypto as possibly some in the sphere think. In terms of a collateral valuation it's so bad that most infrastructure would classify it as zero.

Maybe it's all green fields from here on out, or maybe something happens that triggers a strong collapse, we'll see, but I wouldn't completely rule out a 2018 style crash off the cards. Just 9 months ago we had a 40% 24 hr drop.

And I did answer and say that I think somewhere around 40k and I can see it going back to 20

    What a peculiar statement

It should be a decreasing quantity token by the end of the year once EIP1559 is implemented so that point is moot. 20k still sounds ludicrous to me but so does $100k BTC...and it's not so far away

If that is proof of stake, good luck. My son has a computer science degree, a very high IQ, and a far better understanding of cryptography than I, and he tells me he thinks even Vitally likely has doubts about the security of POS, which might turn out to be very apt initials.
