Villas training ground closed down now due to lots of positive cases.

Spurs vs Villa is in 6 days. How long did it take Newcastle, City and Fulham to reopen their training grounds after they closed them? I don't think any of them were closed for more than a week.

That's grand, just the 5 players in that match.

That could push me to free hit for sure.

I had 6 players overall but now may have 3 playing in gw 18. was always going to FH but now i hear wildcard is also an option, well it was prior to Villa outbreak. not anymore its not as spurs assets likely to be at risk of missing out.

PL should just get some side deal for vaccine in some random country like Israel that have already 1 mill + people vaccinated and vaccinate those 2.2k players and staff.

This is what I was afraid of. You want to free hit on quality players too, and taking the spurs villa game put would really limit options. Interesting times ahead gentleman.

Agreed some times these gameweeks can flatter to deceive you could easily end up with four or five 2 pointers.
So if I have 5 or 6 playing with a good captain I'll take it
City have a good fixture but with pep it's a bit of a roulette!

I will hold free hit for a double gameweek

I wouldve been avoiding players from those 2 tbh. it cud be 1- 1, jammy goal scored by Villa, Matty Cash with his random assist for El Ghazi and then Aurier assisting Bergwijn.

I wouldve lined up with 3 city players, at least 2 arsenal players, 2 Newcastle players, 2 utd players and then i only got 2 extra to pick.

If that game is off I'll be on something akin to this...

    De Gea
    Cancelo - Tierney - Saiss
    Sterling - KDB - Rashford - Saka - Bruno
    Laca - Wilson

    (Sanchez - Mitchell - Kilman - Brewster)

Kinda hope it is off now lol! I like the look of this team... but Id have awful Kane/Son fear if the game went ahead especially if Villa are depleted.

We aren’t getting to GW18 in its current guise are we?

Southampton Leeds could be moved to a different gw if Southampton v Shrewsbury is rescheduled for next week

Villa after closing their ground too

Seems pointless trying to plan now

Well the key thing is, every time they jig things around to find a solution, more matches going creates more imbalance.

Honestly, the best solution would be to pull Premier league teams from the FA Cup and use those dates to plug the gap.

I am thinking about not using my free hit at all due to the Spurs and Villa game potentially being called off. Realistically I can get in Arsenal assets for the game v Palace, but don't really think there are any standout players in the other fixtures, perhaps even Arsenal.

If I was free hitting for Arsenal I'd be looking at players like Saka, Tierney, Leno, Auba or Lacazette who realistically could all blank.

I don't think any Wolves or Everton player interests me massively and don't see any player obviously needed from a sheffield united or Newcastle game which will probably end up 1-1 with players who nobody own scoring and the clean sheets blanking.

I’m actually the other way, I wasn’t using it, but probably am now.

This is the kind of niche week I wanted to use it on. A week that isn’t geared towards the best players. I intend to have the best players in my team through the season so if future blanks/doubles centre around them, the FH has less gain.

You see for me, I already have the best players. Dias, KDB, Martial, Bruno. The only others I'd bring in really are Rashford and Sterling, then maybe the 3 Arsenal lads. Realistically everyone is going to captain Bruno or KDB anyway this week so its not like you'd lose too much ground without them. Though if you don't already have 4 City/United players I can understand why. Not having Son/Kane could have killed my rank if I didn't FH

I can get in Steffen, Saka and Tierney and have MITB and that almost does similar for me.

It would mean by taking a -4 instead of the FH I get close to the team and then use my FH later on inevitably when more double gameweeks randomly occur or if there is another freak occurance like a match cancelled due to covid.

Yeah, ultimately it’s a maths sum of how many points extra you expect to get it ahead of what you’d get extra if you used it any other week.

A pretty thankless task to predict that really. But if Villa and Spurs don’t have games I would just have Dias. Stones, KDB, Bruno, Zaha and Brewster. While there are some great options there I feel I could have a big advantage by playing some additional guys. Realistically I’d pretty much be making 7 changes as it’s unlikely Zaha and Brewster make the FH team.

And you could argue that if Cancelo doesn’t play at the weekend, I could upgrade for one week on my City defender.

    Just following the updates now.

No point even worrying about it now lads, it's a case of, come back next week and see what games are left if any.

At this rate I'd nearly just take a -4 and get 5/6 players that have a very good chance of playing and make changes right before deadline on the information available to us come 4pm next Tuesday.

Rte running with story that Villa will field a youth team for the cup game tomorrow night if those players return a negative test. No senior member or staff will be involved. What stuck out me though was the following:
The club, Football Association and Premier League held talks on Thursday and confirmed they were trying to get the game on.

Why are they holding talks with the PL - surely it would be a FA decision, if the game does go ahead and it is the youth team - do you think the PL would ever force a PL games to take place with a youth team - or are different rules being applied to different competitions by the same body?

If the game does go ahead tomorrow with a youth team, then the villa spurs game has to go ahead, otherwise the season could turn into a farce if games get called off and no slots to play games.

The Villa v Spurs game won’t go ahead if Villa don’t have any first teamers available.

Whatever about the FA, the Premier League can’t turn around to Villa and say ‘oh well we didn’t make Newcastle play their under 23s against you, we called the game off, didn’t make Man City or Fulham either, but you did it in the FA Cup so we’re making you do it’

Consistency will surely prevail and given we’re heading into Friday it would be stunning if that game goes ahead now.

I'd say the PL need to be involved to see if a replay date was available.

If the Villa/Spurs game does go ahead, I definitely won't have any Villa players in my FH team, can't have had much time to prepare

Anyone who is non-covid from the senior squad will have earned a nice rest though.

Basically in 'fpl land 'Villa players mean Martinez, Mings, Grealish, Watkins.

If those four did not get covid they would have had a nice break for themselves.
Plus most people would not have been expecting too much of Villa v Spurs anyway. Hard game to call even before the covid outbreak.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Plus the break was good for Spurs and City, they have won all their matches since their covid scares.

    Hey all,

Q re transfers for BGW, if I transferred in two players this game wk for the DGW and then proceed to do a FH for BGW does my two transfers still stick for the DGW when the FH reverts back,?

Yeah I think it will definitely make a difference. Particularly those with bigger squads like Spurs/City. When the fixtures do pile up as a result of games been called off, they could easily rest 4/5 players even against the weaker PL sides and get results. So it is a win/win for them.
