How on earth are they clear?

    Struggling to understand that

Ya, like 1-2k retests would have been high. I'm calling bs on 8k being retests

In what way.. test center A "how many do you have" and so on..

You are mistaking cases and swabs.

    Swabs are pretty automatic.

What a joke, so between now and then they are at risk of possible death, but lets hold off to do it on the Late LATE sham .

Or were the backlog figures completely incorrect, the figures that have resulted in new restrictions?

I think the cases were enough to result in new restrictions.

Today's total figure is lower than the backlog alone?

How is it simple maths? There were 9k backlog yesterday, 6.5k new cases announced today.

I’m no mathematician but that doesn’t add up, unless of course there were minus 3.5k cases today.

    Taunting the public.

Good thing the backlog is clear, hopefully it will mean a drop in the large daily case numbers that have been reported over the last few days.

The graph on shane hastings comparing cases and swabs isn't working?

Nolan says with the recent measures that have been taken by Government to combat the spread of the virus, NPHET is beginning to see some impact.

Surely to soon to realistically see an impact yet?

Simple I suppose if you make around 9000 positive swabs disappear.

Has been like that since swabs were added to it earlier

So, once again, the restrictions as they were, were working.

An Post needs to put social welfare payments back to fortnightly with no electronic signing
I'd agree. That and use payment by electronic funds transfer where possible and preferred by clients. Not sure how often one has to sign-on in person but they should also consider virtual sign-on on line. Having people queueing for a service in current circumstances makes no sense.

It's more a matter for the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection than for An Post though.

It's not clear. There's about 9000 positive swabs unaccounted for.

    They don’t tend to give a boll0x.

Remember this in Dec from Tony?
Our younger generation has led the way, with the incidence in the 19-24 year-old age group reduced from 432 per 100,000 population to 41 per 100,000.’

They are leading the way alright.

Why does the backlog need to be added to the daily reported case numbers? Could they not just announce the daily case numbers as normal and then add the backlog case numbers to the total running case figure? Like how they would include the denotified cases. Less confusing when cases reported each day are reflective of what is happening now.
