We can't win the League with no CBs.

We can't win the League with our front 3 so off colour.

But we deserve the laws of the game to be implemented. It might, y'know, allow a team to get points from a game they're playing badly in.

    Trent is way off form

He was just as bad when he came. Got caught in the tackle every time. Up against Rashford. He’ll be done for pace

Well he’s right in a sense. They are clearly not as good as they were. But you probably won’t have to be to win the league this season.

It's been a while since Klopp has got it so wrong. Surely you experiment against rubbish like West Brom or Newcastle rather than a decent side in Southampton. Midfield is so much poorer without Henderson in it.

You see why Shaqiri doesn't get more game time, he was awful when he came on.

Agreed, that post was very deluded. City are hitting some form and United too. One CB won't guarantee anything.

Yeah, definitely. Huge challenge for Klopp to figure this one out. Whether it's with the chequebook in the transfer market, or on the training ground, we need a change from what's happening right now.

Liverpool strength for the past 2 years has been a rock solid platform at the back, and monstrous workrate from Fab, Hendo, and Gini in midfield to snuff out most of the opposition play, tire the opposition midfielders, and create space for the attackers. The first part of that is now gone, with the second part of it sacrificed to try to plug holes. We really miss that suffocating all encompassing presence in midfield that frustrates opposition players and chips away at their confidence and mentality and makes them wonder when the fck they're gonna catch a break. Instead you can see the gaps everywhere.

<edit> Carra talking about going 4-2-3-1 now, which is hard to argue with trying. Something a bit different. It worked well at the start of the season before last, when we were still bedding in Fabinho. Got us possession in the opposition half quicker with numbers, building from there instead of from 6.

agreed... i reckon start with the CBs we have. Then start with the best midfielders we have and let one of them shield the defence

I was expecting those serious chats to be happening after the Fulham game. Then the West Brom game. Then the Newcastle game.....

It looks a psychological problem in that they seem to be using this injury crisis as an excuse for poor performances

Been waiting for a reaction for several games, Palace & Spurs games seem like anomalies now. West Brom game worst by a country mile, they are a championship team on a good day.

Lads, I'm not worried. Don't know where all the whinging and complaining is coming from. We are STILL top of the league despite the doomsayers talking as if the world is ending. Honestly think the last few years has spoiled too many. Some are just never happy. We just have to buy a CB in January, any CB, and we will coast to the title.

As for the match we were so unlucky. Officials gave them the goal and gave us nothing all game. Southampton also played their World Cup Final. Hasenhuttl clearly had them wound up and targeted this game to expend all of their energy. They will probably go and lose their next 2 or 3 games by 3+ goals. Short sighted from Hasenhuttl. Hope they go down. It just made his season.

We get a CB in and we will motor again to another title. City are in decline, Spurs won't win a title with Jose's negative tactics, Chelsea are tumbling down the table. Man Utd have one player - Fernandes. If he gets injured they will implode. Even if they beat us in two weeks they still won't win it. Sure it will keep Ole at the wheel longer which is only good for us. Right?

We are highly unlikely to win the title this season, we might be top now, but, on recent evidence we'll be out of the running after we play City. Last summer was the time to get a CB in and not to have one signed by Jan 1st was pure negligence as it has completely unbalanced the team, I fear the damage has already been done at this stage and we have now turned the United, Spurs and City games into must win games.

I’m sorry but it was woeful all round, from manager to the players.

I mean we make changes for the palace game and whip them with finally Minamino starting to show something, very good game, looks like he’s settled a bit and will offer something over the upcoming busy schedule.

Yet he hasn’t seen a minute since.

Ox tonight looked like someone who won a competition to get a game tonight.

Taa was woeful, yep can’t argue he wasnt but who’s more likely to provide you with something going forward even if playing badly TAA or Milner?

We aren’t creating chances well the try something different, maybe even try a third sub every now and again to see can we change the game, it’s like under no circumstances will we chance a 3rd sub just o make about about the whole 5 subs argument.

And then 2 games ago we win a corner when we really shouldn’t, time is well up, gone over the injury time but we have a corner, ok so let’s play it short and give the ref the opportunity to blow, 2 games later and the exact ****ing same thing.

And lastly, a little bit out there but maybe a player might try taking a shot in goal from outside the penalty area for change rather than try to walk through a team camped in their own area to stop us walking through.

Frustrating, results can happen but the performances for the last few games are a real worry.

We got beat 7-2 by Villa, beat by Southampton and failed to beat Fulham, Westbrom, Brighton and Newcastle in the last month, We are not winning the title this season the quicker peopls are at peace with that the better,

Jesus that looks pretty grim alright

I suppose to be pedantic - they were in decline from their previous highs, then they hit rock bottom, and have since been on a steadily impressive incline. Which is not the trajectory I'd like them to be facing.

Penny pinching has bitten us on the backside.

Massive risk going into the season with only Van Dijk and 2 injury prone CBs in Matip and Gomez. Liverpool have a habit of taking chances like this if it means cashing in on a squad player/leaving us thin for sake of banking a few million.

The squad is actually not that strong when you look at it objectively. Minamino and Origi are bench players but there is zero intention of getting them involved when a game is in the melting pot.

When TAA stinks the place out Neco Williams sees damn all game time, so on the face of it we have some lads who are making up numbers. Strength in depth is poor. There's no competition for some players seen as indispensable.

One of the criticisms of Klopp in Germany (and there are not many in fairness) is that he was always more comfortable choosing from the same 14/15 players week in week out. Some players were nailed on every week regardless of performance. He does not enjoy it when the team doesn't pick itself 95% of the time, unhappy squad players are a problem.

There's elements of this at Liverpool too, genuinely think he doesn't want a centre back of excellence brought in because he won't know how to deal with him when Matip, VVD and Gomez are fit again. Those are his guys.

I know. My post was silly and meant to be tongue in cheek. But it's a good summation of the responses of quite a few posters here to poor results this year. Blame anything but Klopp and the players, anything that's not in our control like injuries, Covid, officials, VAR and yes even opposition managers targeting a game against us to put a performance in and get points from. Seems some opinions are changing after this latest performance and result. Only for so long can regular starters being out of form be ignored.

I don't know if this long break until the next league is a good thing or bad thing.

A break might might be a good mental break and reset and get things back on course again. This is a very bad run. 2 points from 3 games where 7 or 9 were expected.

There's the thinking that you play yourself into form so I'd nearly try and use the cup game to play themselves into form. Friday night game. And then a break until Sunday. Which is a bit too long, I think Klopp prefers a 4 day break between games, that will be 9 days between Villa & Utd games.

We cant buy a foul. The level of officiating in Liverpool games this season has been very poor. We have been **** lately but fcuk me between the Everton game, soft peno against us vs Brighton, foul on Fabinho WBA, 2 blatant stone wall penalties tonight. Its like the league have this agenda against Liverpool ever since the Everton game. We simply cannot play the second half of the season without a new CB. It is so so important we get one

I think it has to be a good thing at this stage cos we simply aren’t playing ourselves into form or coming even close to it.

Our record after nice long breaks/ warm weather training camps is just shocking.

Fast forward 6 months and bring in a signing they are planning in the summer. Gets everyone on their toes and gives everyone a shot in the arm. Like Jota was doing before he got injured.

I agree but I presume a holiday in the sun isn’t being planned at this stage, at least I hope not.

A centre half before the next game wouldn’t go astray either

Jota injury has probably done us more harm than the injuries to the CB
He was keeping the front 3 fresh and on their e toes

Manger fault in a dead runner on a **** pitch in Denmark absolutely no need for him to be playing 80 minutes

Penalty against Villa for foul on Salah when we were 1 (2?) down. The list goes on. Its tough to see that other shower get every decision even when they trip themselves FFS

Minamino, Origi and Neco Williams must be wondering about their role in the squad tonight. If they were not considered to come on tonight then I wonder are they seen as deadwood?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,467 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Some horrible performances all over the pitch tonight for Liverpool but Christ the referee was terrible. Getting no luck whatsoever the last couple months in that area.

in fairness neither of them have set the world alight in the last while.. Minamino not sure he's the answer.. seems to not have adjusted to PL or Liverpool's play... Origi , off the boil for a while.. will always be remembered for special goals... Neco - has potential but should never start at the moment if Trent or Robbo are fit against top opposition

what's the story with Minamino, a rare start against Palace in which he scores and sets up another but hasn't played a single minute since...

We MUST beat United now of its good night in the Prem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 36,156 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

The Villa game has already taken on a different complexion now... from being a rest for the regulars, and a fitness boost for the returning lads, it's also become a chance for fringe lads to shine and earn a spot against Utd. Shaqiri and Minamino especially. There's definitely a spot there for someone to come in and open things up with a bit of creativity.

I get that. What I'm saying though is surely we will actively try to improve then. Nothing worse than having lads on the bench making up numbers who the manager has no intention of using.

The fact Milner was thrown on ahead of Williams (the back up right full) is puzzling. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Neco Williams as a player, but does it show that Klopp doesn't back him when a game is in the balance? And if not, why sell a better prospect in Hoever for instance?

If our squad is small why are we carrying passengers

    Clear penalty.

The defender puts his leg in between Mane's leg, and when Mane's leg is coming down, Mane kicks defenders leg. EH...That's a ''TRIP''
How the fck does VAR not know what a ''TRIP'' is .
