Thank you Steve excellent New Years present for us neutrals.

Say what you want about missing defenders but Virjil wont fix that lethargic attack.

If you watch Liverpool play with VVD and his excellent passing range, and then compare it to Philips, it's chalk and cheese.

Liverpool build from the back and VVD can hit it long to switch to Salahs feet on the opposite wing or can play it quickly through the lines to midfield beating the press. Brilliant for breaking down teams. Philips hits is safe everytime. Short or backwards and let's the opposition reset

Not saying it will solve all problems but VVD is missing in
a lot more than one way.

That is what seperates the Premiership from many leagues - expect the unexpcted .

The premiership is actually the opposite situation compared to other european leagues. Liverpool, last year's winners, are still top of the league and will be even in united won their game in hand.

Seire A - AC milan top. Last year's winner Juventus back 10 points back in 6th with one game in hand.

La Liga - athletico top ahead of real by 2 pints with 2 games in hand.

France - PSG third, but only a point behind.

Germany - Bayern top by two points.

    Nice result for Newcastle

It was a result they may not of expected but then when you look at pools recent results against teams that sit back and defend well against the long ball in behind defenders it's not a freak result.

Draw against Newcastle, Westbrom, Fulham and Brighton its giving these teams hope.

Going through the previous seasons in those leagues have basically the same winner with just real and Barca swapping titles.

    Liverpool really struggling
Missing Fabhino in Midfeild anf the injury to Jota has just made the front 3 stale

why did they not create chances?

its not cos fabinfo was in defence surely? liverpool's whole modus operandi is based on 2 flying full backs and 3 awesome forwards. all there today.

biesla, and talk of burnout. is that a real thing?

Good defending and a little luck but Newcastle deserved their point.

How can you say Newcastle deserved their point when Liverpool missed 4 or 5 excellent chances. They deserved to get beat with the chances they gave up. It was more luck that got them that point.

Liverpool have drawn with brighton, fulham, west brom and newcastle this season, on paper it should be an easy 12 points. Is it down to the wrong tactics or just the players not being up for the game?

Football aint about creating chances its about finishing them and stopping the other team from scoring. One team was crap at the finishing and the other team were excellent when it mattered at the defending.

seriously comparing it to the French league is a joke - PSG are light years ahead of all - The top 4 in the Premiership are seperated by 4 points - Liverpool are not going to walk it, as shown up this week.

Everybody is having the same issues, the intensity is gone with no crowds. Even utd looked lethargic for most of the game last night.

That makes no sense, if they were so excellent at defending, how did they give up so many chances.

Lack of motivation probably playing a part. They have been running at full pelt for three seasons and have won the two biggest trophies they can win, difficult to keep motivated when you've already achieved the maximum you can achieve. Will be interesting to see if klopp can turn it around, thats why fergie is the GOAT, year in, year out he was able to get players motivated, there was no resting on laurels and little thinking they could just turn up.

But liverpool were supposed to be one of the best teams ever after their league win last season. Now they're hiding behind lack of crowds and injuries excuses.

But united always spent to keep the squad fresh, not squirrelling away the money

Because they achieved what they set out to achieve. chances mean nothing they sat back and allowed pool have the ball of course they gonna give up chances.. saves and blocks are the bread and butter of defending i would of thought that wasn't too complicated for most football fans?

Yes, everyone knows injuries don't effect teams.

They are still top of the league though even though they have been playing below their levels in the last few months. Why haven't other teams taken advantage of it?

    with the injuries
You would have to say it is Man Utd's title if they keep players fit. Maybe City if they can get the attack together.

Liverpool have to sign a CB.

I think some are forgetting that Liverpool are top of the table.

The January transfer window may help LFC a lot. Just as well it's almost January, eh?

Wasn't there two all English European finals in 2019?

Must have skipped being poor that season so.

It seems to only be obvious to Manchester United fans unusually...
