Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Handbrake seems to be stuck

So tonight I sat in car and lowered by handbrake as you do and went to reverse and I couldn't reverse the car. Its like as if the handbrake is jammed or something. Its strange as handbrake light on dash goes off when lowered. I put car in neutral with handbrake down and the car wont roll itself down a hill. Its a 2014 Dacia Duster so any advice would be great.

Has anyone else had this ?

Rear drums could be stuck if its been laid up a while

Seen that problem with Duster sales cars that were parked up a while, sometimes they'll break free if you try to drive forward. Normally hitting the rear brake drum will free it

If it was wet it could have frozen,if it was only that stick it into gear and try to break its seal without hitting anything in front, backward and forward motion should fix it.
I would also check brake fluid container to see if level is dropping as wheel cylinders can leak fluid on brake shoes and bond to drum when handbrake is on.Maybe your car has discs all round?

Had a similar issue with a fiat many years ago. What worked for me at the time was full locking the wheel and driving into the lock (quite firmly). Released the hand break after about 10 goes

This comes up many times over a year.
Don't park with handbrake on if you're leaving it for a long time.

For now rock it by driving forward and backward until it releases itself.
