    Sorry for the late response

I signed up first week of November. I have aprepaid mastercard from Edenred so Im am assuming itd from Sky.
Please note I signed up over the phone as I cuoldnt do it online as I was just about a year since I left Sky. The agent I spoke was quit good and maybe he manually put in the request for the Prepaid mastercard and thats why I seem to have gotten it quite quickly.
If you signed up online, it could be a case of going `through the system', so to speak
I had to sign up over the phone because the system wouldn't take my details either.
Did you ask for the card or did they just give it to you?

Got a letter saying I was now a silver VIP customer.

The tangible benefit seems very vague can anyone explain what we get from it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,659 ✭✭✭Del007

Do we have sky go extra with this deal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭H8GHOTI

Signed up for Sky VIP & got Sky Go Extra for free.
Another benefit is you get a movie to buy & keep for free.

I paid out for UHD, found the SD unwatchable. Unreal to have to pay for HD still. I'll be gone in 12 months. UHD looked good for the football last night.

I signed up for this and engineer called on 12th....hadn't enough cable so called back 17th, put up dish, box etc but no service...was to call back on 18th but never bothered
I've been in touch with the company sky deal with many times (acctavo) and despite many promises, dates etc I'm still waiting for an engineer to call.
I've been given the runaround like nobody I've ever dealt with before ::mad:

Is there anyone out there going through any of this?

29th 30th 31st and today.....(said they'd try xmas eve) all dates I was told someone would call

    Actavo are a disaster.

I ordered something like the 15th of November, engineer arrived a week later and said due to reception and the satellite having to go on the back of the house I'd need to put the satellite on the roof which he wasn't certified to do, said it was a two man job and they'd call out a few days later.

Few days later in Nov and I see on the my sky app that installation is scheduled for 22 Dec, 1 month later. Multiple calls to sky listening music later I'm told there's nothing they can do. Had cancelled my previous supplier at this stage and had no TV apart from steaming. Fair enough I said, at least I'll have it for Christmas.

Week before Christmas I see on my sky app that installation is cancelled and I need to contact sky. So I ring sky who contact Actavo who say they contacted me and that the date didn't suit and I cancelled the installation. Complete lies.

They rescheduled it for January 15th but wasn't having that as it was ridiculous so got it rescheduled for 28 December. So installed a few days ago, funny thing was only 1 engineer arrived and knew nothing about the dish having to go on the roof and installed it successfully at the back of the house!!

installed minutes ago...its nice not looking at a blank blue screen.

just unlucky to get the most useless engineer out there....no signal but was probably too lazy to go back up the ladder.

What's the phone number to call Sky on that's not the 0818 number please? I saw it I think on Boards before but cannot locate it now.

It's basically a local/national number, but you don't get charged a small fortune like the 0818 number waiting forever to speak to someone. Thanks.

Calls to 0818 numbers are now treated & charged as calls to landlines. Changed about a year ago. If you have no free minutes or calls, you will be charged for a standard landline call by your provider.

New customers only. It's always new customers only.

Just an FYI to anyone moving to SKY. I have been a customer in the past and happy with their service. I signed my parents up back to sky (after 18 months with Eir). Broadband, TV and phone. The house has been connected for years so it's not a new customer request.
That was the 7th of November. They still do not have a phone line Active. They are both senior and dependent on the phone - especially during Covid. I have been on the help line nearly 20 times, I've 34 emails in my inbox and God only knows how many texts, app and chat sessions.
It is still not resolved. The days I do get called it's just repeating previous conversations. Sometimes called by more than one person with no connection to the previous call and rehasing the same sh1t.
Sky used to be very good for customer service. You are now FORCED to get a text message, follow a link to the website and go through the help pages before being able to go to a help line which brings you back to the start again.
It is very difficult to get a living operator.
I also had complains closed when they were not resolved.

    Buyer beware.
(Still though. No one can be worst than Eir? )

Anyone know how much more is it to install multiroom? How does multiroom work? Do you need access to dish or is run over WiFi ?

Think it's 19 euros per room, runs on WiFi so doesn't need to be connected to the dish.

Worthwhile emailing the ceo...had someone from sky onto me Monday who mentioned this to me and couldn't do enough for me and someone from actavo also.

Definitely worth considering going this route for anyone being messed around by sky/actavo In future.

I took care of my parents sky account in the past including all calls when things went wrong which was tricky being in different counties.
In the end they cancelled out of frustration.

These days if you say cancel or join straight from the start you get to speak to someone a lot quicker

I wrecked their heads by the end if it though especially actavo.

Funny thing tho a local lad fixed it for me yet was told sky never use local lads to look after their own area which is ridiculous

Is it just a case of them posting out a new box or does an engineer need to call out to set it up?

Not sure but I'd say they just send out the box, should be fairly easy to setup.

I assume Sky Go is supposed to work? Once my install was done, Sky Go became Sky No Go. Won't work on any device.

Did you link your sky card to your sky go account?

Can Vouch for this. I had the run around with BB getting active after a move. emailed JD and had broadband the following day. The following friday, TV was meant to be installed. No sign of him/her so I called the cs team. Same BS, was told it needed to be rebooked and they couldnt give me a date. Emailed JD and I had an engineer the following morning on a Saturday.

Is it now 19e no matter how many additional boxes you have?
