What's the roughest pub in Dublin city?

Last time I was there it wasn't uniformed barmen. Although they all were all well decked out.

Neary's the Chatham lounge, is on Chatham street. Great pub, fantastic seats.

I used to go to the Ramble Inn in Donnycarney regularly enough, the Guinness there is the best I've had anywhere. Rough enough though, a local guy I kind of knew got shot dead outside it too, adds to the flavour of the pint.

Ramble Inn is beside a cracking Chinese takeaway too.

Eugene's / Edenmore House was rough. Nearest pub to me for years but only ever drank in it once. Madigans Kilbarrack another mad spot. Basically any boozer in "shopping complex" is always that bit more "edgy".

I worked in Eugene's back in the mid 90s. It was an absolute hell hole. Some of the stuff I saw going on there would turn your hair white

Madigans and the nearby dusty bin were 5 star hotels compared to Eugene's

I think i've mentioned it before but the worst pub I was ever in in Dublin was the capel inn an absolute kip of the highest order right across from a down and outs hostel which is now a poncy cocktail spot

It was always a nicer pub that the Jobbie when I lived out there. I haven't been in that in about 15 years though. Very few people in it I didn't know at the time.

Sorry, it's to the right of the pub across the road,

It's just down as Killester Court on Google Maps, its a charity/shelter of some description, bit of a mad place, even the token Garda car on Google Maps

yep, the Back Sheep in Coolock and the Donamede Inn if I remember correctly had a door that led directly into the shopping centre.

lol, Eugene's yes, I went in for one pint with my brother when I bought my house here and it closed not too long afterwards.
There's a flaw in your theory though, The Bayside Inn is like somewhere in Dalkey compared to Madigans and Eugenes and it's part of a horrible old complex.

When were were teenagers we called it the home for "battered wives", whatever that means. I'm not sure where we got our info from though.

Someone mentioned The Aul’ Triangle on Dorset st. I walked past that pub many a time and you know what, never once did I think “I should really stop here for a quiet pint, it seems like a nice, chilled place”. It may not be that bad, but it does have that weird vibe.

Its less bad than you might expect. Lots of IRA imagery on the walls (as you can tell from the outside) but no obviously threatening atmosphere or similar.

Now, I'd pick many other pubs ahead of it regardless, but I've been in worse.

I drank in it a few times,it left no lasting impression.Nothing memorable about the place.

I think you could be right, I had to sign in at the 'office' on the left hand side to start the work and was escorted to the houses.
I thought it might have been a 'halfway house'. I used to turn up early and have a cup of tea in the van/ beat the traffic, always a lot of coming and goings, people sneaking in and out.
Had a couple of pints in the Ramble Inn, found it grand, nice and handy if you lived there.
Always found The Cabra House the dodgiest looking in Dublin

Seems like a kip. The bar men from there used to come in to a bar after work that I drank in. It'd be 11pm, 11.15. I asked how come they finish up so early. They told me they close at 10.30 in the evening, because by that stage every punter there is too drunk to talk

The Restaurant Royale, not too dangerous as is frequented by absolute alcoholics that wouldn't be able to pick a fight. Most of the nutjobs barred from my place drink in it. Harmless folk but dedicated dipsos
