    Make that £601 now.

Few others up for sale now with triple coolers but hanging on for a 3060ti.

What reasonably priced 30 series cards will have more VRAM? Is it the 'ti' versions?

There should be a 3060 with 12Gb of VRAM at some stage.

The 3060ti already launched with 8gb.

A 12 GB 3060 will never happen. It would be idiocy.

Seems to be plenty of stories suggesting it could be true at least? I'll be sticking with what I've got until the dust settles I think.

That article is a month old which is before the 3060Ti was announced. It doesn't make sense to have a 3060 with 12GBs VRAM and the Ti varient having only 8GBs.

Well I got my COD code and my code for the Geforce Experience  for the year....card has not dispatched just yet so I hope they are not pulling a fast one and saying "In Stock" when it wasnt!!!!

Fingers crossed it moves today or latest tomorrow! :(

What's the best price anyone has seen on an RTX 3070 lately?

Seen one for sale on a Dutch site for 649eur today. That's 585gbp or so. Haven't seen any UK for cheaper.

Would like to get in the next week or so, wondering what ballpark I should be aiming for so I dont get ripped off (well too much)

It's the configuration that makes the most sense.
**60 is usually released with two memory configuration with one having twice as much as the other which simplifies the manufacturing.

Which config makes the most sense?
    3060 4Gb/8GB
    3060 6Gb/12Gb

It would be stupid to release a 4Gb GA106 card. Completely pointless and would lose to whatever AMD has at that price point for 1080p gaming.

Willing to bet there will be a 12GB 3060 to blow AMD's 6700XT out of the water which will probably ship with 12GB. They can afford for the 3070ti to only be 10GB as it's GDDR6X.

There will never be a 12gb 3060. Ever.

The 3060 non TI will be 6gb.

So definitely no 12Gb GA106 to compete with the RX 6700 XT 12GB?
Nvidia will just surrender that section of the market to AMD?

What about the 3070? It only has 8GBs GDDR6. A 12GB 3060 doesn't make sense with the current line up. The base 3060 would have more VRAM than the 3060Ti and the 3070. nVidia would be rightly ridiculed for that. The only way it makes sense is if they replace the 3060Ti and 3070 with higher VRAM versions but if they were doing that they wouldn't have released the 3060Ti with 8GBs already.

Either the 3060Ti will compete with it or a card with less than 12GBs VRAM. Just like exists at the higher end with the 3070 and 3080. The AMD options have more VRAM.

    £1800 STG on a graphics card ?
I'd be divorced. No I wouldn't, she'd kill me outright.

Yeah it's madness. I'm looking to upgrade myself but I'm in no rush. My 1070 is managing fine. Can run valhalla at 1080p on high with 60fps most of the time. It even ran rdr2 pretty well. But it's over 2 years old now..

Yeah but those few weeks before the credit card bill comes in and she sees it would be pretty sweet. You're going to die some day may as well be for this.

3070, 80 and to a lesser extent the 3090 are going to be rendered obsolete by the 3070ti and 3080ti. The only one in the stack that's going to be anomalous is the 3060ti vs the 12GB 3060.

Yeah, I've a 3070 and I won't be moving it on for a long time, but it's a strange proposition alright. The 3060ti gets about 90% of its performance, and the other 10% probaly isn't at noticeable/important levels so it's in a bit of a no mans land imo. I think it will be retired by nvidia first.

You see reviews showing it performing well at 4k but I'd guess there hasn't been a 4k card made that came with only 8gb RAM before so you couldn't really rely on it for that surely? Real shame it didn't come with more.

The 3080 will last though as a value alternative to any ti though I think. DDR6X doesn't seem to be cheap so there could be a big enough incentive to accept 10 for a good lot of people maybe.

Honestly if the supply of cards gets better, AMD get more offerings out and prices get closer to what was advertised, the mid to high level should have something to keep everyone happy.

Interested to see what they do at the lower levels now. Take RTX away and could they get 1080ti performance at (an advertised ) $250?

Nvidia are going to shake up their whole SKU stack in the next 2 months or so
They only care about profits and ****ting on AMD

The people who bought 3070s and 3080s will have a measure of buyers remorse.
I can see the 3070 and 3080 being retired soon and replaced with the TI versions with a modified pricing scheme

I reckon that if the 3080ti is priced between 899-999 dollars then nvidia will be on to a winner (it will **** all over the 6900xt)..but if they get greedy and go for the 1200 dollar mark it wont be as much of a win.

TLDR fun times ahead with pricing and more powerful gpu's...Hopefully this nurtures more competition between nvidia, amd and intel and will help drive prices down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭harmless

Well that was my thinking, they have already make changes to the planned SKU stack in reaction to AMD. So why not continue to do this?

It will be interesting to see the two companies compete once stock levels are not an issue for customers.

What? This isn't the usual launch for Nvidia, they shot their load first go here. They don't have chips held back because they can. Hence the performance uplift to the previous gen.

The top end chip is the one in the 3090 and to get it to pull properly ahead of the 3080 they had to pump power into it.

Unless they bring the GA100 chip to the Geforce line up and who knows if thats even a good rasterization chip. And I mean, its larger again, you would be looking at 500+ watts.

I will gladly sit on my obsolete 3090 in the new year crying....:P:P

    On overclockers.co.uk its £479.99 / €542
    Their cheapest is a Palit 3060Ti Dual for £419.99 / €475
