Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GAA TV ?

    What would be the chance of a dedicated GAA tv channel working?

    I know it’s probably fantasy thinking but I definitely think there’s a market there for it.
    I know that there’s the likes of GAA Go already operating.

    I’m thinking something that shows live club, minor, colleges, etc.

    The potential is there for the gaa to make decent money I think. If the package is quality in terms of presentation, picture quality, commentary, etc...people would go for it.
    Add in a few weekly preview and review shows. Maybe a weekly Laochra Gael type show featuring retired players.

    I think COVID has shown the appetite is there for streaming, etc. People enjoy watching decent games regardless of what county they are from.
    Last night tg4 showed Kerry vs cork in minor football on their YouTube channel. There was over 10,000 watching live
    The game is available to watch back and they’ve nearly got up to 50,000 views today.
    That’s fair going in the month of December

    It would take a lot of planning and organising but I think the gaa really need to be looking at it going forward. I’d gladly pay a subscription to a GAA channel if it was set up

    There is not enough content to keep a full time pay channel going.

    Kerry v Cork did get 10K last night, but it was free.
    It was watched in this house, but had it not been free Radio Kerry would have sufficed.

    And you are correct the pandemic did see a rise in streamed services but I doubt many people for out of their county paid for streams of other counties.

    The individual county lead streaming is fine because it's a pay per view model, people will pony up the money for the game they want to see when they want to see it.
    I don't think there is a market for a subscription model.

    In my lifetime we've gone from ~6 live games a year (2 semi finals and final in each code) to 6 games live a week, this year we've have live club games, live intercounty games, live underage and also have access to view them all, that's before you go look at the likes of RTE Player, YouTube, etc.

    I can't think of any sport that could support a dedicated channel, I'm sure if there was a market for it that the premiership would have it up and running, maybe rugby as well.
