Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pretty wet night in Belfast which is bound to help Ulster and perhaps stem the flair of the Toulouse backs.

Ulster are missing Henderson, Murphy and Burns, as well as Addison and Balacoune, who are longer term injuries from their starting XV. Little doubt Henderson will be badly missed. Sam Carter needs to really step up tonight.

It's a big night for Madigan and a chance to deliver on the big stage at club level.

Ulster are 8 from 8, including 6 BP wins so far in the league, but I fear tonight will be a tough one. Toulouse have so much power and talent. Maybe they won't fancy the weather. But I think Toulouse to win by 6.

Think we're missing too many front-liners, and Toulouse will just have too much talent. Loss for us - hopefully a narrow one.

Also missing Marshall (whose defensive nous and organisation will be sorely missed), Treadwell and McGrath

It would have been interesting if Marshall had been fit...I think Hume may have started anyway...not sure...

Treadwell is definitely missed, McGrath is missed, but happy with EOS starting anyway.

Was just thinking, how long has Dan left on his contract? This is his third year?

You'd think BT could have found some sort of shelter for their pitch side presenting. Trimble looks like he's drowned.

Given the opposition, I think that will help Ulster on balance.

Miserable winter evening, Toulouse on the road with a 6 day turnaround...Ulster well able to win this even with absentees.

Not the start we were looking for Mads!

He's good for at least one of those in every game. Better to get it out of the way early!

    Well deserved Ulster.
Tekori should have sene yellow, that was incredibly cynical and obvious.

Brilliant few minutes from Ulster, sensational kick and that's a better maul than anything Ireland have managed to produce the last few weeks.

Commentator trying his hardest to tempt fate re our home record!

Looks like Toulouse aren’t enjoying the weather!

I am not burdened by the hope and fear!

Toulouse are a great team but they're still a French side on the road in December. Ulster are well able to put it up to them.

Oh man thats beautiful heads up stuff in the conditions. Top drawer.

Also I agree, the strip colours reversal is stupid and annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

I know he was against 2 forwards out there but when he kicked up a gear it looked like he was running in fast forward

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

4 shouts at Toulouse to leave it. At least 2 too many.

Surprised the ref didn't speak to Ramos for kicking that away.

Surprised McFarland didn't speak to Madigan for kicking it away a couple of minutes ago too!

You know its a good game of rugby when even the referee's Jersey is covered in blood

All these scrums taking there tole

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Typical of Dupont. He's excellent at that. Super try.

Toulouse game breakers doing their thing here.

Ramos has had a mare..But Toulouse rallied round him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,597 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Cooney panicked and left that gap.

Very few people will chase down Dupont at full sprint

It's rubbish. Just holding the ball in until they eventually get moving forward. A scrum is to be a method of restarting the game not a way to milk penalties and strangle the game. If they were getting momentum immediately, it would be something. But the ball is available at the base and being held for 2-3 seconds whilst they attempt to generate a secondary shove.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,597 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

I see nothing wrong with that

If you have scrum parity, it allows you to create attacking space. Its the other team's job to win the scrum and get a penalty or turnover of their own

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,952 ✭✭✭TRC10

All of Toulouse's points came from flashes of brilliance from 2 of the best players on the planet. But they haven't had any sustained periods of pressure in the Ulster 22. This is well within Ulsters reach.

Stockdale having a good game and Lowry looks so composed at 15. The game suits Mccloskey down to the ground and Madigan and cooney are playing the conditions well. Lineout is going well but scrum is a real worry.
