Starter wood turning equipment

Hi folks, my dad started wood turning a couple of years ago when he joined a local mens shed. Once covid hit he had to cocoon and hasn't been able to go back to he men's shed since. I love to get him a wood lathe as a gift because i know he misses it. I know nothing about wood turning so I would not know what to buy. Could someone advise me on what I would need to purchase? No looking for high end machine, just something basic if that's possible. Budget of a couple of hundred, rather than anything 1k+.

I know someone who may have a secondhand one for sale, including stand and some chucks, should you be interested? Would be an ideal starter kit. It's a jet lathe, and jet are decent quality. It would not be a couple of hundred though, but definitely well under a grand.

don't forget that there are accessories he'd need with the lathe - gouges, a means of sharpening them, and various centres to hold pieces in place on the lathe, a chuck and jaws for bowl turning; so budget for those too.
