Is it just me, or is this starting to get a little bit tedious?

Looking forward to this Bushmills thing tonight - I'm sure I'll see some of ye on it! Also answers the question of what I'm drinking tonight :D

Looking for some advice. Has anyone tried the Writers' Tears Redhead or Double Oak? I'm going to buy one for a friend who's a big fan of the label.

Are they worth the price difference over the Copper?

I've had both. Of the two I found the Double Oak the better drop, Red Head I had to put a drop of water in it to open up the flavours and for me while it was nice i wouldn't be in a rush back for it. I've had 3/4 bottles of Double Oak at this stage and usually try to keep one in the press.

All that said, the standard copper pot is a beautiful whiskey in its own right. I haven't heard too many negative comments on any of the Walsh range so you can't really go wrong IMO.

Is there a knack to putting on the shaker strainer section? Cause it leaks slightly if not

Only testing while washing it and the glassware for tomorrow!

FFS. The second night of a no show.

Did I hear this right at the Bushmills tasting...
    * Bushmills White Label, contains minimum 5 year old whiskey, 50-50 malt-grain
    * Bushmills Black Bush, contains minimum 8 year old whiskey, 80-20 malt-grain

The Black Bush Basil Crush cocktail is lovely... surprised how well fresh basil works in a cocktail.
Must pickup some more fresh basil.
Found it very hard to shake the chilli out from the bottle though.

Gets easier as the bottle empties a little. Goes well with Mexican food too.

Drinking the powers 3 swallow. Picked it up mainly cause of the 30 euro price. I am very impressed. Love it when a whiskey out performs my expectations. Even if I go in with relatively low ones

Pretty sure I heard the same.

Picked up a load of basil today and am currently sipping my third basil crush . Beautiful cocktail.

Friday treat, just opened a bottle of Laphroaig PX Cast. Damn it's good! The sweetness of the sherry is all there at the front of the mouth then the peat really opens up. 48% and dangerously drinkable :)

Found a bottle of Kilbeggan in Naas. There was one left on the shelf.

What was the concensus on this btw?

    Good, bad or ?

Can't speak for the consensus, only for one. I am sparing mine, but it is so smooth it is hard to stay away. I have been switching between it, Talisker 10 and black barrel recently for a great variety of taste depending on the day...

The Redhead is very very nice.

Bought a litre bottle of Powers gold label the other day. €25 is the best value out there for such a nice whiskey. Off work on holiday so fairly went through it.

Opened up a bottle of Teeling Small Batch.
While being very drinkable, didn't think it was anything special.
Got it for €22 and it came with a €17 token for the distillery tour though so can't go too wrong there.

Agreed, it's very good. I didn't like the copper pot at all.

It’s a classic. I would sooner drink it than some Irish whisky 3 times the price.

Nestle set to release KitKat that's been aged in Scottish whisky cask from Islay

The chocolate for the KitKat has been made using cacao nibs aged for 180 days in barrels once used for aging Islay Scotch whisky.

That sounds like the starting place for a stupid and widely popular beer.

As a follow up to the Bushmills event - the hot sauce gave a nice kick to my scrambled eggs this morning. I can feel a thirst developing!
