Did we not hear this same rumor last year ?
    And the year before ?

Last year wasn't a rumour. There was very much a last minute deal done to put all 3 opportunities, front and back of jersey plus naming rights into one deal. Smyth's thought they had a deal done but rug was pulled from underneath them.

Must be just a coincidence that Mayo GAA website has a page with an email address routed to the lad from Teneo, appointed by HQ for expressions of interest in sponsorship. Only went live in the past few days.

I think physically we’ll have too much for them, other than O’Riordan, Horan might even decide he needs Aidan out to compete with him

But again I think Cork made him look good. No doubt he’s an amazing athlete but we’ve seen first hand that it’s tough to carry your football skills when you’re playing Aussie rules, he’s five years gone. He should be able to compete with actual footballers, even more so when you consider he’s only had two months to get up to speed

We saw Fox winning a dirty ball against cork to set up a score. With McLoughlin, Diarmuid, ROD there I think it’ll be Mayo winning those breaks

Tipp are lot more physical and stronger then you seem to think, Liam Casey, Steven O’Brien, the Kennedy’s, Quinlivan and Sweeney are all big men Tipp have that well able to win their own ball and above all very skilful well. Maybe some of the Tipp backs are lighter and smaller alright but Jimmy Feehan and Alan Campbell are fairly big men. Robbie Kiely is small in enough in height but is well build the same with Kevin Fahey, so Tipp will be able to compete with Mayo and won’t be bossed around.

They are much better physically prepared this year then they were in either 2016 or 2018 they have added some new players that are physically strong and are good footballers, so it’s going to be an interesting match alright.

Definitely was a last minute thing.

Have been catching up on the Road to Croker podcasts from the Mayo News over the last few days.....excellent series I have to say especially for an exile like me who doesn't have access to the local news on the ground.

The one about the GAA vs. Soccer scenario in Westport was interesting....growing up I can remember Westport being savage at soccer but fairly anonymous at GAA (apologies to anyone if I've mis-remembered that :D).

Wasn't fully aware of the Eoin McLoughlin situation either - a big call for him to drop the cycling. Professional cycling is a tough grind I'd say but playing for Mayo is no walk in the park either!

Listening to the Tipp one right now from yesterday - glad to hear the journo from Tipp putting to bed my bullsh1t rumour from last week about the hurlers rocking up.

Anyway, starting to get that familiar feeling of excitement/dread yet again.....will have the green and red flag out here in Limerick at the weekend either way

    Weirdest “build up” ever
The first semi is in less than 48 hours and there isn’t a peep about it

Durcan for Quinlivan and one of Keegan or Barrett for Sweeney.

How we negate O'Riordan when they slot him in at full forward is the biggest matchup in my mind. That will be something they will try a few times.

An incredible low key buildup to an All Ireland semi final,in fact the lowest key ever.Absolutely no harm at all.We know within all counties there is a section of the support base who can be a tad OTT.

A number of factors I believe.

The restrictions relating to the pandemic and resultant behind closed doors nature of the contest.

Our familiarity with semi finals and the relatively unfamiliarity of our semi final opponents who are more closely associated with the sliotar.

Finally and I believe most importantly the sadly sense of gloomy inevitability within the country not just Mayo that an nearly unstoppable juggernaut ak Dublin likely awaits the winners.

Who said Mayo people were the definition of optimists?!:D

I have heard stories of hard core supporters who are heading up to watch the match in and around Croker.

Pour moi putting the flag on the car, listening to every match related podcast under the sun and sitting back to watch my heart go into near cardiac arrest on Sunday will suffice on this occasion.

A final appearance now that a different matter entirely.

Only way you'll be staying in citywest is if you have covid. it's a testing and isolation centre.

Listened to a few more podcasts this morning

Irish Examiner was excellent, had Rochford and McConville on, bth very impressive. They didn't spare Rochford with the questions. Talked about decisions he had made and he brought up '16 replay and dropping Clarke, playing AOS full back. Also asked him what went wrong with Donegal this year. Really excellent listen

Listened to Wolly's, he had Brian Lacey on, he was part of the tipp backroom team in '16, possibly the worst pundit I've ever heard, and thats saying something having listened to Dessie Dolan

Had reason to speak to Jimmy Feehan today, very relaxed and measured, certainly didnt get the impression he was daunted in the slightest by Mayo. Worried me slightly how relaxed he was!

Agree with on the podcasts. I'd usually be glad to hear confidence coming out of an underdog, why wouldn't they believe in themselves, but that Brian Lacey could see neither fault with Tipp nor positive with Mayo!
It was unbelievable - no harm for us anyway.

I have heard of a few idiots that have hotels booked in Dublin for the weekend of the final.

Why are they idiots? Wouldnt appeal to me but each to their own, booked a table in a local hotel for the final today, they're booked solid for Sunday

And this is the madness of it all.

Don't let anyone into a huge open stadium but no bother filling a hotel function room with booze flowing.

*No issue with the poster by the way, just pointing out the silliness of the policy.

Ys i agree and well tbh im a bit apprehensive, will wait and see what they are going to do (the hotel) if its just normal capacity for dinner etc, then fine as i knew the exact table i wanted and if that wasnt available i wouldn't have taken any others. Ive no interest or wish to be in a packed premises

    I’d be too apprehensive

If I can't be in Croke Park, then the next best option for me would be in some sort of solitary confinement cell preferably with padded walls :-)

Bad enough being packed in with the students all week, don't want to be packed in with their parents at the weekend either 😋
