Yeah, but according to the memo the customer rep read our to me, that was a system error and shouldn't have happened. I have a reservation number but am going to assume it's not real until I hear otherwise or can get through to the branch. It's best to try to call your branch up get confirmation as the customer reps don't have access to what's happening in the individual branches

Error or not they have them. If you've a reservation number you'll be fine...especially if it's for collection today\tomorrow

People have picked them up. The stock was there.

    Rubbish about Argos.

Yeah they got stock but aren't gonna honor people's reservations despite having stock to honor reservations?

But did that get to collect though? I have a ready to collect too but she said that these emails and texts are in error. I can't confirm mine yet as it's a two hour drive and don't want to take the journey for nothing. Its frustrating that I can't get in contact with the Limerick branch as they won't answer the phone

They dont send ready to collect texts in error. They get sent when they scan stock in.

If they tell you in store it was am error then it means staff too it. Has happened to people before.

What are the chances of Smyth’s doing another round of pre-orders before Christmas ?

It sucks, but I'm only quoting what she read out to me. I have a reservation number to but I think it's a waiting game now until stock is actually confirmed at the branch by the staff there, not the website

    Folks it's very simple.

If you have received a reservation code you WILL get a console. How are people not understanding this?

If you got an email with no reservation code you WILL NOT get a console.

If you received a text with a code, wait for a second text to confirm it is in stock for you to pick up. You WILL get your console.

    Likely, I think.

As I mentioned earlier, it's been 2 weeks since the launch day stock. And there is another 2 weeks to go for the week before Christmas.

So basically Argos got stock but it was an error to allow them to be reserved because they don't want to sell them. They want to keep them sitting on the shelves??

If they have stock and you have a reservation number then you will be sorted. Trust me.

How or why they would get stock and then say oh sorry but you werent supposed to reserve one so we are gonna cancel your reservation and give it to someone else.

very slim id say seeing as their stock is due by the 18th so that doesn't leave much time, unless people don't collect and they have leftover.

This needs to be stickied because the amount of people who can't grasp something so simple is mind-boggling.

Argos ask for a mobile number when reserving anything on their site.

The problem is that the stock released yesterday will likely not be delivered/collected until the 18th. Which is 2 weeks from now.

Smyths advertised yesterdays stock as "pre orders". So people were pre-ordering for December 18th stock.

Maybe they would have another round next week for 24th or 26th of December collection but it seems likely now that even if they did release more stock it would be early January before people actually have the consoles in hand.

I have absolutely no idea how stock is transported and distributed etc but you'd have to think now, with what we've seen from Smyths, that companies are told how much stock they will be getting and that this stock will take a week or so to get to them before then being shipped out to customers.

It’s not mandatory I’ve got one reserved with a reservation number in my email

Yeah, makes no sense to me but with how crazy things have been with this PS5 release anything is possible. The girl believes it could be that they released them before they confirmed their allocated stock

My gf is in town and just asked her to pop into Argos. Soon as she mentioned ps5 she was told "out of stock"

Then she mentioned the reservation number and was told "oh well then your fine, you should receive a text when it's ready to collect"

I would go back to that store and demand an explanation as to why your reservation is not being honored if you have a reservation code and received text to collect it

so then no stock today then?

We are all in the dark, just need to be in the right place at the right time unfortunately.

What does your email say? Mine says it's reserved until the end of day tomorrow, I'm assuming that means it's ready to collect now? When I ordered it said there was 4 in stock. Though because they just popped up after they had sold out everywhere in worried it may just be a system glitch

If it's reserved until tomorrow it means you can collect it between now and closing time tomorrow.

Yes go and collect it. You don't seem to be able to grasp how a reserve system works.

you don't have to give one though, an email is the only requirement

It's not that simple. I went into an Argos to get a Series X a couple of weeks ago, with a reservation, and when I put it into the kiosk it said unable to find item. I went to the counter, and was told that it was reserved in error. There is a small chance this could happen to someone else.

Also, you can only have one PS5 per person. Even if you're collecting for someone else, they won't give you a second one. My Mrs saw a guy most upset this morning, because they wouldn't let him take two. Apparently the second item got cancelled off and will reappear tomorrow.
