144 hz gaming monitor

Hi

Santa is bringing a gaming monitor to our 12 year old son and is looking at this one. Or would anyone have any other recommendations. Also do they come with the right lead or do you have to get that separately. It will be used with a PC.

Welcome to a massive rabbit hole a few of us are currently in. One thing to bear in mind is has the PC driving it got the grunt to drive high frame rates?

Comes with an HDMI lead in the box according to the tech spec.

Absolutely a rabbit hole! Some reviews say the hdmi cable only 60 hrz I think so needed a different cable to get the 144hz from the monitor.. Think that is what it says. I would go for the one you linked only its not guaranteed delivery for Christmas.. Thanks a million for your help

HDMI can support 144Hz just not at resolutions higher than 1080p (AFAIK) on the 1.4 standard anyway.

All depends which hdmi is in Your gpu as well as monitor. As im waiting for DP cable im using hdmi cable UW@100hz

For an extra £10 I would get this version of it, the U rather than AE variant - looks like the difference is the USB ports?

Neither would be quite as good as the more expensive IPS panel version but since that's no longer available the above will do the job very well I reckon. Especially for a 12yr old.

I honestly haven't a clue.. Just a 144hz monitor is on top of Santa's letter so have to try and get it sorted! thanks for the help. It is very much appreciated
