No winner 01 Dec €179 million jackpot. I think I might get a ticket for Friday. I know, I know it will ruin my life if I win, too much for one person, they should split into smaller prizes, the bookies are giving better odds. Still I think it might be worth a go.

Ruin your life if you win? Are you joking me? It would infinitely make my life better if I had that much money.

Also, thanks for confirming I didn't win it tonight...

I did it this evening but didn't win a washer. I usually stick to doing it once a week. I may make an exception this week though.

I do the same numbers twice, at least if there's any other winners you will get 2/3s. Imagine winning €190m and find out another person has won, don't think I could handle losing €95 million that quick.

I wouldn't see it as losing €95m, I'd look on it as winning a **** load of money!

Id be very happy with winning the Lotto plus 2, it would be the equivalent of earnings for the rest of some peoples lives, realistically, you could buy a house or a big chunk of one, work part time, change direction, take a break, if you were sensible with it.
170 flucking million, you'd have to start disposing of it through any means possible, you would be on a constant holiday to do things,

    Thanks for the reminder

The odd time its ok, could go for months and not play it or might play a few weeks in a row, probably better of at the bookies, but I wouldnt know much about that and odds.
Madness doing the same numbers because then you are trapped into doing them all the time, or spending a fortune, I just randomly pick some numbers.

What's a fortune on it? Once a week, twice a week, €20 per ticket? I think that yes, the odds are really small, but if you just win it once, you should never have to do it again. If you did 2 lines with the plus on the Irish and Euro lotto once a week, it costs about €700. That €700 could surely be spent elsewhere, but is also a small amount for the chance to win multiples upon multiples of that. I think its worth it, especially as I used to spend easily waaaaaay more than that on drink in a year. Sometimes in a week!

There's got to be a good value 1001/1 bet that you could lay all that on though? Then tell Bezos to kiss your ass.

You are correct. The odds a almost impossible.

But people are renting a dream.....much the same as spending the few quid on an escape which is a film or pornography. It's an escape for a few euros.

I think I know more people who have been murdered (1) than have won the lottery (0).

Im not sure how those 2 are connected?
We know the odds are great to win, but people do sometimes, I dont play often or for much, but if you're not in you have a 100% certainty of winning nothing.

So this new 200 million number for tonight is new because it’s always been 180 and if that then rolls over the jackpot I think lasts for a few draws and it’s split. I wonder why the higher number.

Won 10 euros the last two draws. Getting closer. If I win tonight, big party up on one of the offshore islands for everybody here once this hoordemic is over, copious amounts of everything for everybody

It was €190 million max before. Now it can go as high as €250 million.

In addition, the current Jackpot cap of €190 million will be raised to €200 million and increasing up to a maximum of €250 million using a new cap mechanism. Once the €200 million jackpot is won, the cap for the next cycle will be increased by €10 million to €210 million. The same mechanism will be applied up to a €250 million new maximum cap.

No, still €200 million. All explained here.

    https://irish.national-lottery.com/euromillions/jackpot-cap

If it gets to this level again there will be a new cap of €210 million next time.

A local guy a few years ago placed a bet in Ladbrokes, that a certain 4 numbers would be drawn in the Irish lottery and got odds of 30,000 - 1

He put €3 on it and won.

Had he just done the lotto as normal, and the 4 numbers came up he would have won approx €50.

Have you accounted for the cost of the taxis to get him from wherever he runs out of fuel to the nearest bugatti showroom?

Jesus i'd love to win 200m. I just don't buy into the whole it will ruin your life spiel, if you find it's ruining your life there's nothing stopping you giving it away. I'd give most of it away anyway - i reckon i could struggle through life just fine with only 20m in the bank, actually make that 30 just in case:D

Classic Bill Gates one is that if he drops 100 dollars from his pocket it's not worth his time to pick it up as he earns 114 dollars per second.

That was when he was worth 72 billion, he's worth more now.

I’ve heard that story numerous times. It makes no sense though. His wealth generation isn’t impacted on whether or not he bends down so surely it’s still worth his while to pick it up. He’d earn $114 in that second and still pick up the $100 like

you ll find most wealth is in the form of assets, i own assets, ive worked hard to be able to buy them, i havent worked hard in watching them grow in value, i suspect most wealthy individuals have worked even less than me in regards watching the value of their assets grow. the hardest amount of work ive done in watching the value of my assets grow, is turning on some sort of computerized device to view their value, i suspect wealthy individuals get others to do it for them

Doing the Euromillions when the jackpot is this high is worth the price. You know you're not going to win it realistically speaking but you're in the draw at least and what you're really doing is buying a "daydream" where you can fantasise about what you'd do with the money until such time as you get the "Not a winning ticket" inevitability.

this is deffo the better way to spend a few euro if you want to win some money, it'll never be a yacht buying fund but handy if it comes up.

    What a ridiculous comment.

It's not really. The likes of Bezos has people dying in Amazon Warehouses after being worked to the bone.

The mega wealthy regularly make vulgar amounts of money per year because they pay so many staff as little as possible with no investment in their wellbeing or health.

These guys do work, but it doesn't warrant absolutely destroying the workforce and large portions of society to maximise their profits.

Bill Gates didn't buy Microsoft then sit back and watch it grow. Jeff Bezos didn't buy Amazon then sit back and watch it grow. It's not the same as the property or shares you bought or whatever you might be referring to. They built something from nothing, got market share and hired employees off their own back, before eventually getting as big as they are. You don't do that without being exceptionally talented and hard working, in addition to being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

By all means, there is plenty governments could and should be doing to encourage more equality and tax people in these positions. But it would be a lie to say they did nothing to earn it.
