I'd be hitting Force India with a massive fine for that. ****ing nonsense.

EDIT: Racing Point. I'm sure Force India wouldn't be too worried. :P

    There's that safety car.

Perez should have pulled over much quicker. A 3 place grid penalty for next race is warranted.

The safety standards at the last few races has been appalling.

That Marshall had a death warrant. Could have been a tragedy after the miracle earlier in the day.

Ricciardo a lucky boy as well. Kimi should've had the black and orange flag earlier as well. If we can see something on the broadcast the stewards can see it too, enforcement of simple rules shouldn't be let slip.

Couple of laps earlier if perez parked up maybe max could've got at Hamilton with fresh tyres

    Croft sounds exhausted

Racing Point needed to tell Perez to park that car, when an engine blowing smoke like that there is always a risk of fire or sending oil all over the track.

There's a big part of me that thinks Grosjean's fire was caused by the rupturing of the Lithium batteries in the impact. These sit behind the driver's seat right where the chassis split

Didnt really look like a lithium fire but we'll find out I'm sure.

Not sure. From what I understand, Lithium fires can't be extinguished. They just have to run their course.

    This too shall pass.

Gary Anderson said on Twitter structure for fuel tank failed, that's what caused the fire

I would have thought it might be harder to extinguish, and be more so concentrated to one point? Looks to be more fluid, but hard to say right now I think

Was watching the hurling , so only glanced at the phone feed As Perez engine went , did he drive past the pit entry?
    I am probably mistaken .

So, do we think Grosjean will call early time on his career?

    This too shall pass.

Depending on burns or broken bones yes

Ross Breen disagreed. He doesn't think it was 105kg of fuel

    Edit
    Brawn*

Gary is a former F1 designer, Ross a joe.ie reporter?

Full 40 seconds what shows it even more what an incredible escape this was. If Grosjean would have lost consciousness he would be dead.

Grosjean hands looked pretty burned when he was getting out of the medical car. I still can't believe he was able to walk away from that. I normally don't believe in miracles but I think I witnessed one today.

Edit. That should be Ross Brawn. Think he knows his stuff

That was...insane. Glad I missed the start of the race and only came in at the start of the red flag.

Even with modern safety standards and the Halo etc. he is very possibly the most fortunate driver in the history of F1. Could easily have died even without the fire. And with the fire what were the chances of him being able to extricate himself from the mangled car/barrier as quickly as he did.

This was like something that you'd see in 1970s F1. Francois Cevert, Helmut Koenig and Peter Revson were all killed from going through/under metal barriers and in Revsons case there was a fire as well.

Didn't look like a lithium fire.
It didn't really look like 105 of petrol but it looked a lot ****in more than 2kg like they were saying on Sky. The fire kept burning, if it was a couple of litres it would have gone out pretty quick and carbon fibre takes a bit to start burning itself.

Seeing it being said that the impact peaked at 53G. That's incredible.

Updated that his x-rays came back clear. "Just" burns on the back of both hands. Incredibly lucky.

    Goodman Grosjean

Such a nice guy and delighted he's doing well

Was literally in shock after seeing that. Thank god for the Halo even though I wasn't a fan. How easily he went through the barrier though raises big concerns

Yeah, because getting two punctures in the one race was all his fault.
