    Hi all

Thinking of changing car into a skoda octavia to go up a few years. I have Seat Leon tdi 1.6 which has been grand but if I change I would like the 2.0 tdi.

There are very few in Ireland and UK seems problematic with covid restrictions etc..

My question is whether people who have the 2.0tdi think its worth it to pay the premium over the 1.6tdi VAG.

    cheers

    P

Premium seems quite hefty - I'm looking at 18/19 cars

    For me - Emphatically, yes.

Depending on what you want out of it, the 1.6 will be grand in the same way the Leon was.

The basic 2.0 is just as slow though and it’s pretty saucy to upgrade to the 150 2.0

It's just to do with emissions. The 2.0 is lower.

Sorry I just noticed you are buying used.

If you are just tipping along the 1.6 will be fine.

The gearbox is different in the 2.0 as well. Its much smoother and drives so much better than the 1.6, I’m a big fan of VW group but you couldn’t pay me to drive a 1.6 tdi with a manual gearbox, theres so many of them out there tho so I’m obviously a bit of an out liar

I'd an Octavia 1.6 5 Speed Manual diesel combi for a long weekend and it was grand tbh ......... a few months prior to that I'd an Octavia VRS Combi diesel which was obviously far quicker etc etc but as mentioned......... loads of the 2.0tdi are not 150bhp so the 1.6 doesn't compare too unfavourably to them.

Yes I was thinking of the 150bhp - price increase is hefty though

Are you looking at new or used cars?

Used - I've a 161 and am looking to up in yrs and down in miles. Probably
182 or 191. Great prices in UK on these and lots to choose but obviously problematic at moment with restrictions (I think?)

May look to go over in new year if I can sell my own privately.

Your car will sell, they are well thought of.

Brexit will have changed the rules for importing by the New Year.
