George Lee is a shameless apologist for NPHET, don't heed a single word he says.

I think George wakes up every morning worried and is desperate to place his fear onto the public.

7 day average is at 310 cases per day, this time last week it was 416. Very encouraging progress made.

Brilliant, always were. Funny how people look at stats about schools and say schools are not an issue because they believe everything they read and the numbers been manipulated to keep schools open.

Let's move the pubs into the schools as you can't Covid there haha.

20% of the population are in schools, apart from homes and workplaces, the two areas with more outbreaks than schools, is there any setting with that level of people attending daily.

We couldnt open the pubs at one stage because of the schools. What utter bullsh1t that was.

    How’s Tony’s 5 day average looking now?

Better than the 5 days before?

Oh wait that statistic doesn’t suit the narrative anymore. Back to the worry-o-meter!!

Covid caused the heart attack, will be the next thing we hear.

    Scale is also important.

19 out of 772 clusters were in schools. That's 2.5%

I believe there properly advertising these numbers now as an excuse to keep the pubs closed. Media has some power.

Arnt family members put down then as household tranmission from catching it from their infected child?

There has been no suggestion I have seen anywhere suggesting Diego had Covid, yet here we have people inventing a scenario so they can get mad about it. Bizarre is about the most generous word I can use to describe it

A single cluster identified in a pub across Ireland in December and Tony (sorry, the Government are allegedly at the controls) will swiftly shut the entire sector down. That's how maliciously one-sided the narrative is.

When has that happened or even being suggested it might happen? More inventing things to get angry about

It can cause heart attacks through clotting.. 🙄 One of the first secondary complications they found with Cvd19 back in April.

How the Irish publicans would love to be treated the same as the English 3 tier system. If any area is under 100 cases per 100K everything open including wet pubs.Tier 2 food pubs open.16 Irish counties would qualify for tier 1,and all the rest bar 3 counties would meet the open with food criteria.

This to me seems a far more sensible regime, having counties like Wexford, Laois,Leitrim with roughly 50 cases per 100 K leaving wet pubs closed is ridiculous. Before certain posters jump in with how deplorable the UK are handling the crisis there are many areas of England where the rates are low and well controlled.

Keeping the schools open, my take on it is the student goes to school, gets infected with asymptomatic symptons, parents pass it onto people they meet up with or through work.

I actually think schools are the number one spreader.

Well probably from something that begins with 'C' but not Covid.

I guess politically and logistically difficult. Reality is don't think anyone's going north at the moment unless they have to. I'm sure there's still the necessary movements both ways.

Rest of piece touches on restrictions and vaccines etc

They technically have with travel banned out of your county. But the optics of it are politically fraught.

It would be handy if they could breakdown household infections by whether kids in house or not.

The evidence is kids are no more likely to be a symptomatic than adults under 60

It was hard but other religions had their equivalent of our Christmas without large family gatherings. Millions (or perhaps even Billions) got through Diwali, Eid and Yom Kippur already this year.

It seems really foolish to throw a year of sacrifice into the bin for a family gathering that could easily be posponed, particularly with the prospect of successful vaccines on the horizon.

For the benefit of those living in some strange alt-right alternative universe where covid is a fraud or not lethal and necessary public health measures need not be followed, Dr Gabriel Scally did not mince his words about the stark reality of the situation…

"It's no use having a good Christmas if you're burying friends and relations in the New Year."
