What are these "vested interests"? I won't believe "wanting to be on the telly" is one.

This a joke, a vast multitude of vested interests, look at everybody who is courting celebrity status....dare we mention Hugh,, the simple talking billionaire....

    The anti alcohol lobby...

the bored AF epidemiologists looking for a bit of limelight....god knows what they were like before this epidemic...

these are the simple types but there are a multitude of others,

the media are certainly another that will be investigated in the near future....without Trump and COVID over half the industry will collapse at a best guess

But for Europe (with very sketched and probably inaccurate estimations), I think only Russia, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Latvia (of countries with population > 1000000) have had fewer cases per capita than us in the second wave.

Russia's first phase didn't hit until a lot later so they might behind our path still. Cases still rising a lot there anyway. Denmark's cases still high too and haven't had a noticeable drop like weve had

Very true. As I said, the calculations were not in any way rigorous - just jotted down a few numbers.

I see the zero Covid guys still getting air time. Well, single figure cases Covid according to Tomas Ryan tonight.

Their main flaw seems to be the inability to understand borders (both county and international ones).

They don’t understand economics or mental health either

In fairness to Matt, he wasn't letting him having a free reign, he did question his figures. Scary that people in his position don't see the damage that trying to achieve single digit numbers will cause.

Yeah he didn’t leave him go unchecked tbf. I just don’t get why the zero Covid still gets air time. It’s been ruled out time and time again, there is zero chance Ireland will adopt the policy.

It’s too late for that policy anyway, especially with vaccine rollout happening soon. If the government were serious and did zero covid back in April May we’d probably be fairly okay now but government can’t close open borders

Even the school kids could see through his bull**** on that Zoom call, they looked embarrassed for him.

The Santa Coca Cola Vaccine Christmas Truck he posted on his Twitter account, is something only a quack would post

What's wrong with getting in a taxi, drivers all wear masks, screens behind driver, passenger in rear, window open. This nonsense needs to stop.

This is global guidance since spring. People should bring their own wares and bring them home to reduce risk of contamination. It's not that big an ask.

Can't reduce risk to zero but little steps like the above help mitigate things in a practical manner.

Out of all the new age celebrities that have embarrassed themselves both with their suggestions and predictions in the past 8 months, Tomas Ryan is leading on the bridle. The quicker he disappears back to his odd little life the better

Easiest thing would be to use the Free Now or Uber apps. You can pay by card using them.

There is 750,000 kids in school everyday breathing on each other, RTE are having parties and hospital staff are having coffee's and eating sandwiches onsite

    Virus is airborne

The street is the safest place you can be right now

Whatever about the RTE staff I very much doubt that the school kids and the hospital staff are sinking pints cans etc of alcohol and generally causing disorder.

He'll be a lot warmer in ICU.

Ventilation reduces the risk from the virus. If people are going to insist on having vulnerable people at their table, with a vaccine only around the corner, then the least you can do is try and reduce the risk. Utter selfishness and sheer ignorance otherwise.

    Its airborne

No cleaning, wiping or your own cutlery is going to help you, its a complete waste of your time and money

Its in the air, your going to get it unless you have BSL2+ gear on

Best not think about it and live on

Use the FreeNow or Lynk apps, then you can always pay by card. If you hail one off the street, you might have to ask first.

Oh right so your approach is to just let the virus rip through society and do **** all to try and protect yourself and others against contracting it. Brilliant solution there chief.

Keeping it Covid related you can request a taxi with a screen in the app as well when you are booking.
