    No loyalty points or spend and saves.
    No multi buy discounts.
    Basically nothing that encourages you to buy more at a discount.
    All retailers will be rolling it out.

    Discounted price is ok for this phase until MUP if it comes in - that would put a floor on any discounts.

    Made an Old Fashioned just now (because why the hell not?) but only realised at the last minute that I didn't have any bourbon. Probably not a good sign that I can't remember finishing the Jim Beam... :pac: Decided to use Roe & Co. instead. I'm pretty happy with my choice.

    I wasn't suggesting they had to trade under a different name. I'm literally saying the opposite. That a geographical name shouldn't be any more restricted over a a different name. As in choosing a generic name shouldn't open up any loopholes.

    I also wish there was clarity on original. But that applies separately to the above.

    Was at a whiskey match lunch over the weekend. A few new drops tasted, for me any way. All Glenfiddich as that was who organised it.

    Glenfiddich - Fire and Cane - 43%
    Slightly sweet and spicy, pair well with peppered venison carpaccio (spot the connection ;)

    Glenfiddich 15year old, cask strength, single cask - 58%
    Heavy mouthfeel, very savoury, delicious drop.

    There was a Glenfiddich 12 sorbet palette cleanser server at this point

    Glenfiddich Project XX : Rob Roy - Project XX contains strong port cask influence, conbined with whatever a dry red vermouth this was almost like a dry aged red wine - intentional for the beef course.

    Dessert was a honey and clove pudding. But the star of the show was the final dram. Glenfiddich Grand Cru - 23 year old scotch finished in French Cuvée casks. Apparently this is not yet released this side of the water, not sure what it retails at but imagine it won't be cheap. Very impressed.

    I think I remember reading that West Cork’s 10 year old single malt was bushmills stock but I’m open to correction on that.

    Yeah I heard that comment. I'm not impressed but I could imagine an apology would happen over it.

    This Ralfy thing could be interesting (I don't even know who he is) after the whole Jim Murray thing.

    There was a pretty strong backlash against the "cancelling" and vilifying of Murray over his sexist comments.
    Will people be happier about a "cancelling" over derogatory, discriminatory, stereotypical language use about the Irish?

    Time will tell, I guess.

    Surprised to read that , he seemed like a pretty chilled guy especially since starting fitness videos .Haven’t watched him for a while and wouldn’t be rushing back after that .But as stated I’d imagine an apology is imminent .

    Ralfy's an awful gob****e and always was. He spends 40 minutes padding out a video that has about 10 minutes of actual content in it. I've rarely seen him say a good word about Irish whiskey.

    I totally misinterpreted this comment to mean how nice we look in relation to the trigger happy Yanks, Brits, Russians etc...

    What's in the pack?
     5 x 30ml 
    We are delighted to launch the latest whiskeys in our own award winning Celtic Cask Series. The range was born from our strong relationship with the Irish distillers and the European bodegas and wine houses. We've been able to hand-pick some of more interesting distillates from the length of the country, both single malt and single pot still, and mature or finish them in great casks from Spain, Portugal and Italy. This tasting will feature the upcoming releases of the Celtic Cask Troicha (30), Triocha Haon (31), Triocha Trí (33), Triocha Ceathair (34) & Triocha Cúig (35).

     When?

    Zoom tasting will take place on Thursday December 17th at 8pm with our very own Whiskey Specialist, Al Higgins and friends.

    So they took the voucher and will be taking them until new year which is good news. So I can use them each week.

    This week I got another Black Barrel as I was running low. They didn't have powers 3 swallows so I'll just pick that up elsewhere. Went for Roe and Co and a Tullamore since I've never had them and I liked the look of the tullamore glasses.

    Black Barrel - €35
    Roe and Co - €25
    Tullamore DEW, with 2 branded glasses - €20

    Knock off the €15 voucher and that takes it from 80 quid down to 65 which is fantastic imo.

    i assumed it was rebadged jameson Caskmates but lidl website says west cork distillers so who knows

    They're the exact ones you've posted yeah.

    Edit, the writing is slightly different. But the style of glass is the exact same.

    MoM advent calendar at the weekend...

    1492 - pleasant enough, this is one of those occasions where yet again I find an American bourbon or whisky that is aged for a paltry 36 months (?) and we discover that it is perfectly drinkable.

    Jack Daniels single barrel - Of course it's 'fine', but I think I would prefer its stablemate Gentleman Jack... Seems only fair to compare them.

    I just watched the video there, and regardless of the dodgy comments, he doesn't even get his facts correct about the spot range.

    It's a blend, no, it's a mix of pot stills (it's single pot still). Mitchell and sons are a grocers (wine merchants). Blue Spot has been hard to get (off the market for 50+ years). The man is an embarrassment. Maybe if he hadn't have drunk half the bottle before recording the video he would have been a bit less racist and a bit more coherent.

    I had a bottle of their 26 release and it took a long time for it to grow on me. Very, very syrupy, almost port-like and very cloudy.

    Once I discovered it goes well with cheese, well that was the end of that.

    I would be interested in trying a few of these, though.
