The virus is spreading through schools and the HSE/NPHET are covering it up.

What evidence do you have to back this claim up?

I'm getting the impression that a large amount of people are breaching the guidelines, but they have justified it in their head and it allows them to continue to pontificate.

Because at this stage, it is blatantly obvious that households are mixing and people are travelling beyond 5km. The vast majority. Not a minority.

Will not be permitted or else what? Jesus such crap...it's actually laughable. You don't need permission from the government to hug people. You do it knowing the risk/benefit..it's not about "permission".

Has anyone from the government or the public health authorities actually used the words "not permitted" in relation to this ? I believe you are reading too much into a newspaper article.

That sounds like the examiner hyping up hysteria. All you have to do is put HUGGING in capitals and that could have been a line from The Sun.

The government advice will be the same as before; visitors to homes are permitted, but social distancing guidelines still apply. Just the same as it has been for 9 months.

You can interpret that as "Hugging will not be permitted" if you like, but clearly the government cannot ban hugging, and is not going to say that hugging is not permitted.

It was the same in summer, restaurants open, people got together but technically if not from same household you couldn’t be at the same table. No one adhered to it though.

Yeah restaurants could realistically only enforce limit in size of groups and time limits. Was always personal responsibility for same household bit. Same as it will be for meeting people at Christmas in homes or in pubs or restaurants if they open.

People are beyond caring anymore unfortunately. I've seen multiple social media posts of people having house gatherings, posing with their friends for photos. Goes to show that they're not even worried what others think of them breaking restrictions.

They're the same people who complain about repeated restrictions being imposed, despite the fact that if they and everyone like them followed the guidelines in the first place the restrictions wouldn't be so severe.

Thats why NHPET have to accept the numbers we have now is as good as it will get.

The obsession with getting them under 200 or 100 or whatever needs to end.

This is level 5 and we're doing good.

Anyone know where Kilkenny got its sudden uplift in cases from. Looks to be more than a coincidence

I'm hopeful we won't see a big rise in numbers with this easing of restrictions due to the fact that most people are ignoring the current ones now. Opening a few shops and restaurants shouldn't make a big difference. If they go and open wet pubs I would be nervous. I'd prefer if they held them back another 3 weeks and give them the Christmas period.

Vitamin D is now being recommended for older people... Not for COVID, but for bone health.

You should learn the difference between an "i" and and "L" if you want to sound like Charles Spearman.

Should is not Shouid.. are you being ironic?

This looks like a soft way of getting older people to take VIT D because they know it also helps in COVID. There’s plenty of evidence that suggests VIT D deficiency is a potential issue and driver of a bad dose of COVID.

The only rational reason why I can see it’s not been conclusively tested is because there is no money to be made or concluding that VIT D can help reduce the severity in people. It’s shocking to be honest.

I think governments are afraid to even just say to everybody to make sure they have solid VIT D levels because they are afraid some will somehow the message will be lost and people will take it as a vaccine of sorts.

That is exactly what I think. Way too coincidental they suddenly recommend it.

Ive been taking vitamin D every second day for the last 6 months, thats when I heard first that it reduces the risk of a bad dose of covid19.

I dont know if this has been said already, but I was watching scenes of celebration on Sunday evening in Tipperary and Cavan on Youtube. Two well deserved victories. It is easy to see how people could lose the run of themselves and put the whole covid restrictions thing to the back of their minds for a night, particularly since its been 85 years since Tipperary won Munster.

Was it a good idea to run the All Ireland Championship this year at all?

It's the only bit of entertainment some people have. I look forward to the weekends even if Cork are no longer in it. The championship this year is one of the best we've seen.

Look at this nonsense from RTE.

    It's not a headline, it's not a story. It's just guff.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

My mates sons crèche rang him on Saturday to say they were closing as someone tested positive.

His son is not getting tested until Thursday!!!

And my mate apparently has to go to Dublin to get the test done. An hour drive away.

Don’t know how long the results will take. But it’s far too long to get tested and get a result.
