Have one of these packs waiting for me at home for the talk dram Fercullen tasting on Thursday. Looking forward to trying the limited edition 18 year old.

My bottle of Blue Spot arrived in the post this afternoon. Looking forward to sampling that tonight, before packing it away again until closer to Christmas.

Had some Dingle single malt batch 4 the other night. Didn't know what to make of it to start. Very strong on the nose and big spice on the palette. Had a 50ml glass of it though so by the end of it I was enjoying it. I watched a few reviews who said it was a departure from previous releases. It was my first single malt from Dingle so I can't compare myself.

Also had a few glasses of Caskmate IPA. Not as nice as the stout but not bad either. I might have a few more tonight.

Haven't tried it myself but good bargain for anyone looking for one, Matt Darcy 10 year old port finish.
Half price at 55 but comes without the gift box:

Had some roe and co last night and it's actually not bad at all. I wouldn't buy it at the normal retail price but at the reduced price it's decent value.

First impressions are good! I've never sampled a cask strength whiskey before, so I'm impressed that the strength of it wasn't overpowering. The rush of warmth from it was really something else, but without the nastiness of a similar strength absinthe or poitín.

I think the first sip dulled my taste buds though, so I couldn't pick out different flavours after adding a few drops of water. I'll leave it for a few weeks and do another taste test later in the winter, but I think I'll be keeping most of the bottle for a celebration late in the spring.

Edited to add: I do love looking at my collection and seeing the Green, Yellow, Blue and Red Spots next to each other. :D

I got a free sample of it with CWS... was a bit underwhelmed.
Thought it had different flavour profile to usual Roe Co releases - honey, chocolate, molasses.

I preferred the 2019 NAS version.

    Still available in some place:

Had another drop of the green spot Chateau Leoville last night, it really is one of the all time greats (IMO)

What are your christmas whiskies this year?

I'm thinking mine will be Lagavulin 16. Ardbeg Uigeadal. A Blue Spot if I can get my hands on one or a Redbreast Cask Strength.

    What about you guys?

First year buying a Christmas whiskey, but I think I will pick up The Liberties Copper Alley and either The Whistler Calvados Cask or Method and Madness Single Grain if I can find it for €40.

Also have a bottle the Crested x 8 Degrees to open.

I just finished my Lagavulin 16 at the w/e, so will be getting another. I'm also keen to try a Blue Spot.

I always have a Dalmore 12 or 15 on hand, but having done the Dalmore tasting recently, I'm tempted to pick up either a Cigar Malt, an 18 yr old... or maybe even the King Alexander III. Unfortunately, at €1,000 / bottle, my budget won't stretch to the amazing Dalmore 25 I sampled on the night.

Does anyone know where I may pick up a bottle of Bluespot? Seems sold out online. Dublin Area, if that helps! Thanks

Have you tried ringing Mitchells? I noticed it's not on their website anymore, but I'd say call them and see what they say.

I was on to them last Wednesday and they said there would be stock on the site on Thus morning but couldn't say when. I ended up getting to the checkout on my third attempt as it was in stock/out of stock all morning. I then picked up a second bottle on jameson.ie. I'm glad I did too as it's sensational. Lots of fruit, lots of hot spice and a long finish. It reminds me of Yellow, but turned up to 11.

Lambay Small Batch Blended Whiskey is on offer at €30 in Celtic Whiskey Shop... usual RRP is €40 - €45.
If I was still in town would defo be dropping in to pick up a bottle. A lovely long finish on it.

It is finished in cognac casks on Lambay Island, so might have special appeal to northside Dubliners :)

It would if we were allowed on it!! I'd love to visit. It has Wallabies

You can visit. They run excursions out there. Obviously with covid things have changed a bit for now.

Edit: Just looked at the cost. €1200 for 6 people.

Finally decided to join Flaviar as I got the first quarter for €44 instead of €89. My first selection arrived today with a Japanese Whiskey tasting kit and an El Dorado 12 year old Rum. Looking forward to trying these new arrivals.

    How'd you get the discount?

Tried many links on Facebook but I couldn't get the discount. Finally found this and signed up here https://flaviar.com/lounge7

For your quarterly tasting box, you get a choice of 3 x 45ml whiskeys such as Scotch, Japanese, USA plus Gin, Cognac, Rum etc. Hopefully they will rotate the selection. For your full bottle, the choice was some Irish, Scotch, USA, French whiskeys and various others like Rum, Gin, Cognac etc. Plenty to choose from so good value in my opinion.

Bottles available for my first quarter ranged from €35-50. As I got 50% discount on my first quarter, the selection available to me may have been cheaper than if I paid the full price. Guess I will find out next quarter.

I'd he fairly p1ssed off if I'd paid full price for that selection.

I just did the same. Ordered a bottle of Australian Starward Nova single malt and the Asia / Oceania tasting box.

I've never heard of any of these whiskies before, but nothing ventured, nothing gained :D

Portmagee 9yo, very nice indeed, a rum cask finish and a very clear colour, doesn't seem to have added caramel.. started my second bottle just now :)
