AdBlue question.

Hi Just a quick question about a car I'm thinking of buying, I'm thinking of Jumping 3 years from a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 2015 to a 2018,
Renault Grand Scenic.
The Picasso takes AdBlue
but the Renault doesn't is there a reason for this.
They are both diesels.

AdBlue helps improve diesel engine emissions but not all manufacturers use it with their engines yet.

Would be very rare for a 2018 diesel to not have adblue, but I believe there’s a small number who don’t.

So that you won't have to fill up with Adblue regularly.

but will not having the adblue affect the car now or in the future with
The Euro Emissions
Standard ,or in an up coming,
budget with increased motor tax.

I know my car beeps at me when the adblu is low. It then counts me down from 2500km. According to my booklet my car wont drive if the adblu runs out. I have no idea if thats true.

My only gripe with it is not all fuel stations have adblu pumps or indeed even sell it. I had to top mine up about once a year.

Renault cars didn't get the new engines with ad blue till around 2019

Both should be euro six if 2018 so one needing adblue and one not makes no difference. Just get the car you prefer. Adblue is a pain in the hole tho. One extra thing to purchase and fill up.

Not that big of a pain really though.

Every 4500 or 5000kms you have to throw a shot of liquid that's readily available and you can do yourself.

True it’s a mild inconvenience but Id prefer a car where I didn’t have to stand in a cold Halfords car park pouring 15 litres of liquid in via a small hose. Doesn’t flow in very fast. Bad design on my cars part but I also need the wheel brace to open the ad blue cap.

Not sure how it works on Renault OP but make sure it’s an easy job. Someone I know claimed their adblue could only be topped up by the dealer only.

It's a small blue cap beside the fuel cap, it's pretty easy job to top up. We did have one customer that opened the fuel cap, poured in 10 litres of ad blue and drove on. Car came in with every kind of a light on the dash
