Nah, anyone with 2 functioning eyes can see they massage the numbers to feed into their narrative.

Everything is one big conspiracy... isn't it. Posts like this are very Trumpesque.

We had a couple of big nursing home outbreaks near the end of Oct didn't we? Probably where the high death number is coming from.

Can you not post conspiracy stuff please unless you have proof this is actually the case? Gets tiresome!

    Deaths and ICU both increased.

    Not much good news today

It really is incredible how quickly the numbers are coming down. Well done to the people of Ireland

Cavan showed them how it's done.

I could well believe it, the correlation with the increased deaths in NI and here seem to point maybe toward nursing homes.

Quick question, were the 16 deaths all in the past 24hrs???
just read back thru the comments, seems like they massage the numbers to suit the narrative.

40 cases. What is going on there?

Think it's fairly obvious that the deaths are part of the weekend reporting backlog. Deaths on weekends are usually reported on Mondays.

RIP to the 16 people who have died. If cases keep trending downward we might be able to relax some restrictions temporarily over Christmas and give people a break.

RIP to the 16 people that have passed..

But is this some cautious optimism Kermit???

Is all the vaccine news making you giddy??

3 week lag from the ~1100 cases around October 20th giving a ~1.3% case fatality rate (16 deaths) for today or ~0.5% (~6) fatality rate for the week-average is hardly either unsurprising or grounds for all this conspiracy bs.

    Kermit! What is this positivity!

If cases continue to fall in the north and down here I wonder is there any chance they could work together to try achieve a zero covid island?

Continue to fall... sure how could that even be possible with the schools open?

    Mostly from October so no.
Family member died recently. I guess you haven't tried to get through to the births, deaths and marriages office at the weekends. It's not exactly easy.

I don't know about these death numbers I think the actual definition is today they were declared to have been caused by Covid 19. It's a confusing allocation system the 16 deaths didn't happen in the past 24 hours only they have been declared in the past 24 hours it's a skewed system to say the least.

Doesn't really matter tbh once the system is understood by those that need to understand it.

There must be some internal HSE (or other) system where the number of deaths is coming from, numbers only no names or other data for GDPR reasons. They can't be relying on family members to register deaths up to 3 months later, that would be meaningless info in such a rapidly changing situation.

Nope you have to wait for a certified death to be registered. It then gets notified through the correct channels to HPSC who in turn report to Dept of Health.

3 months to register a death, CMO mentioned previously they wanted that changed but doesn't look to have happened

I read on the RTE site that Anthony Staines and Tomas Ryan are saying that we will be in and out of lockdown until the end of 2021 at least. They are part of a group called Independent Scientific Advisory Group who want to eliminate Covid.

While I understand that the Pfizer or indeed any vaccine would not be a magic bullet, surely yesterday's good news would be encouraging. Encouraging enough that we could look in to the future without such a projection? Or as they are medical experts is it likely they are correct?
