What is actually ‘wrong’ in the brains of republicans, it’s fûckin weird...

Even if this was a vaccine funded by America (which it isn't), how delusional do you have to be to credit the president instead of the medial researchers? And on top of that, state that it's "only" because of him? And worst of all, Trump then quotes this statement so he can feel good about himself and get a round of applause? Sickening.

It's a classic example of the cult of personality. I know we have always laughed at North Korea when the Dear Leaders get praised for everything that happens - but Trumpism is exactly the same: anything positive is always credited to Trump (whether he had anything to do with it or not is irrelevant) and anything negative is deflected and blamed on the media or any other scapegoat they can find.

We are living in some truly fûcked up times...

You’d start to wonder if this whole shítshow is being enabled by the Russians or wtf is going on... there is NOTHING remotely normal about this. Covid AND the election.

I haven’t seen the reports but if he’s about the fire to FBI and CIA chiefs, NOW...that’s mad , again, America is in trouble...

America has been in trouble for a while now. Step outside the main tourist traps of NY and Orlando etc.. and it's pretty much a sh1tshow. Moral decay is rampant.

America potentially sleepwalking into a version of Putin’s Russia.

Can we discuss if Trump is mentally ok now?

Madness would be a pretty pat explanation, imo. Much more troubling that he could be in full control of his faculties but just have no scruples and will debase the office to any extent necessary in order to retain power.

Do you suppose there are republicans who now wish they had gone along with the impeachment and got rid of this embarrasing problem child?

If there are they are being very quiet. From what I can see the GOP are fully on board the Trump voter fraud train.

Nope, they would not be enabling his current bs if that was the case.

Guaranteed, but they are by nature too spineless to say anything. The party has been over riden by a minority of feckless people. Similar to the Tories in the UK. Ousting or shutting down any dissension.

Yes. There are smart republicans who know that his ramblings are increasing the likelihood that they will lose the Georgia senate run-offs and would wish that he would shut up. Not that they'd openly admit to that of course.

I really worry for people that are so naive so as to be fooled by Trump's rhetoric. They ignore everything that he has lied about and got wrong and then scream from the rooftops when he takes credit for something he had no hand in like this vaccine.

They remind me of the ones that fought against the civil rights protests a few generations ago in America. The only difference is there will be undeniable proof of their following of such an awful human being in generations to come this time. They won't be able to hide their views when the time comes.

They've already thrown a couple of Michigan lawsuits out of court citing lack of evidence. Affidavits aren't really good enough, although they will have Trump people saying things like, "No smoke without fire..."

I'm not really seeing any evidence in the current case. Therefore my suspicion is that these cases aren't really about proving anything so much as they're about sowing doubt and slowing the process as much as humanly possible.

I've seen it suggested the lawsuits are to make him "feel" presidential as much as anything else. If we're very lucky, his firings of high ranking staff are for the same purpose, because he thinks being in charge is the same as his game show and he gets a little rush from it.

The fact that there's more noise from him about running in 2024 and "retaining influence" over the GOP suggests to me reality is gradually soaking in though.

    Proof?

    Citation?

    I didn't think so

Of course the McEnanys are clinging to Trump's coat tails. They've no where else to go.

Does Kayleigh believe half the cr@p she's been getting up and saying the last nearly a week? Because believing even half of it would be pretty worrying.

Like, her educational background reads like someone who is very smart and diligent.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kayleigh_McEnany
McEnany attended the Academy of the Holy Names,[4] a private Catholic preparatory school in Tampa. After graduating, she majored in international politics at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C.[5] and she studied abroad at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.[6][7] While at Oxford, she was taught politics by future British Shadow Home Secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds.[8][6] After graduating from Georgetown, McEnany spent three years as a producer on the Mike Huckabee Show.[5]

From there, McEnany enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law, before transferring to Harvard Law School.[2] Huckabee said that "one of the reasons [McEnany] went on to law school was because she didn't see she was going to have an on-air opportunity at Fox anytime soon."[2] At the Miami School of Law, McEnany was a recipient of the Bruce J. Winick Award for Excellence, a scholarship awarded to students in the top 1% of their class.[5] She graduated from Harvard in 2016.[2]

So, she's not just some two-bit airhead beauty pageant winner who the Trump campaign brought on board. If she really believes everything that she's saying, or even part of it, regarding the election results, and being cut off from Fox news, something's gone very wrong. She's destroying her professional reputation, and looks to have gone all-in on Trumpism, perhaps believing it to be the force that will define American politics for the next so many years. So, smart as a whip, yes, but also craven, crazy and morally bankrupt.
