Trek fx sport 4,5,6 tyre width query

    Looking at buying either a trek sport 4,5 or 6 carbon bike. The standard width tyre is 32mm (700x32c). Can I put a 40mm tyre on them (700x40c)??? Currently using 1.6inch tyre on my current bike and dont think I'm too keen to go so narrow!!!

    In the FAQ's for the FX5 on the Trek website, they state that 35c is the widest tyre recommended.

    The difference between 35 & 40 is not going to be huge.
