CNN has been excellent this week.

Letting the numbers - the people - speak, but also emphasizing the deep and seemingly intractable division in the electorate.

Whether Biden or Trump, the USA itself is the real loser here.

The news reporting in general (and I say that to differentiate from the Fox Opinion wing) has been very impressive I think. Measured, patient and intelligent.

That was said on cnn. It’s a **** conspiracy then by the democrats.

The GOP are the party of inclusion apparently.

He seems strangely reserved or down. Even if what he is spouting is nonsense.

    So far anyway....

I don't support either of them, but I've friends on both sides of the camp, I'm A political but I just think America really needs change.
Hopefully if the democrats get in they'll be able to get people together rather than divide the country.
They'll have to stop the rioting and protect business and the general public.

Give the native Americans more power and say in their rightful land, what happened to those folk is absolutely sickening.

They're the minority in that country and should have a say above anyone else, or have more privelages..

An observation more than factual and probably a bone of contention of mine.

Funny the pole kept your voters at him, surely if you asked them to do mail in voting you would win

How does he think polls influence how people vote?

Another narrative being thrown out now that the polling agencies made his voters stay at home.

It was 'miraculous' according to Trump that his supporters largely didn't use the mail-in system he told them was no use.

    A totally rambling performance.

    First lie.

    Irrelevant

    Paranoia

    Lie

    Polls are always wrong now

    Paranoia

Wrong - Red wave smaller than blue wave.

    Senate shmennet

Lost no races in the house is unusual? Hmm needs an investigation.

    True but irrelevant.

Polls are wonky and need junking, "suppression polls" - paranoid language

Doesn't seem to understand that postal votes are counted after.

    Hearsay about observing.

Maykey uppkey ****e about postal votes being "found"

Mail ins are one sided for the obvious reason. Red staters less likely to vote early.

They aren’t finding ballots they are counting them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,651 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

****ing idiot, the mail in votes are so one sided because you rather have you voters suffer hours in line during a pandemic rather than doing mail in voting

Theyre so one-sided cos YOU TOLD YOUR SUPPORTERS NOT TO VOTE BY MAIL!

    remarkable cognitive dissonance on show

Well he has a point. But if anything he benefitted.

If polls claim that a result is a bygone conclusion and you support it, you're more likely to not bother voting. See Brexit.

But with polls predicting huge for Biden, it would have encouraged Trump supporters to come out.

So it's a fair point, but a shot straight into one's foot.

I want to hear them call it before I go to bed. Either that or Chatham County puts Biden in the lead in GA

Trump is some man. Emblematic of America, totally energised American politics.

This is true. He certainly is emblematic of America.

What is up with Trump's voice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,150 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

    I hope he takes questions.

It's not a triumph winning the traditionally red states Donald you melt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,765 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

How can he be shocked that postal votes that he discouraged went mostly to Biden?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,126 ✭✭✭homah_7ft

I think this is more embarrassing than scary. How can his children let him be made a fool of like this? Someone needs to take him to one side and let him know he can't always get his way.

    Are ye seeing this speech.

    It's surreal.

    He's a mentaller.

I think, in even 5 to 10 years, this particular period will rightly be viewed as the absolute low point of American history.

How a nation that was genuinely for most of the 20th century, the envy of the world, turned on itself and became largely a laughing stock with a clown leading the way will be studied in plenty of history and politics courses for years to come.

One good thing Trump did(for his own benefit): he brought to the surface and laid bare the division and naked racism that has always been present just about under the surface in the US.

I hope they can move forward from here and fave the many many problems in their nation but it's a long hard road.

Donald Trump is the kind of guy who if playing soccer, would decide when he's 2-1 up after 65 minutes that he's won and blow the final whistle because he is winning at that point.

He's rambling a hell of a lot though, his ego won't allow him to concede but he gives off the body language of someone who knows that he is.

    It's pathetic.
