Its not a line of succession thing. Its about who the EC delegates will cast their votes for. It would be Harris (and there would be court cases).

i can imagine. imagine the US president being unelected. are you sure that's the case?

There would be no court cases. The Constitution is very clear on what would happen thanks to the 20th Amendment - Section 3:

Section 3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President.

    Yes. 20th Amendment Section 3:

Section 3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President.

And by the way there's been loads of unelected presidents.

The odds on Harris are creeping back up.

It took thousands to move the prices but it could be anything. Maybe somebody is in big on Biden and are just hedging their bets.

For those who don't understand the betting exchange it's punters betting against one another, the exchange take a small cut. The presidential market is huge - over 500 million euro matched to date, including numerous million euro stakes.

Yes that's exactly what it covers:

Section 3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President.

i.e. if at 12 noon on the inauguration day he is dead, Harris gets sworn in. It's very clear.

Watching it the last hour, there not splitting the way Biden needs, he's going to fall short.

Looks like Biden will take it by about 5k votes - or something like that.

Can we stop with this. It's meaningless. It's a betting exchange. No one knows anything.

    People gamble on stuff....

He'd need 75/25 split to pull it off, it's not happening.

Look this is off-topic but your spouting mis-truths. It did not take thousands to move it, the history will show as 1000 euro traded if a 1 euro bet is place on 1000 .0 on the exchange...

So if the exchange shows 20,000 traded at 1000, that means 20 euro has been backed on it.

    Back on topic.....

It couldn't be any clearer. If he dies before inauguration day Harris is sworn in. No ifs or buts.

He needs roughly 64/36 to win and he is exceeding that margin at the moment.
