BMW 325d, blue smoke on startup

    Hi,

    My 325d has recently been billowing out blue smoke when I start it in the mornings. I know this is a bad omen.
    Are we looking at piston rings or could it be turbo related?

    Car has nearly 200k miles on it. Believe it's on it's original turbo. I have changed the oil on it every 10k even tho computer/manual says 20k so would have hoped the engine was in good condition.

    During the day it starts with no blue smoke, only first thing in the morning.

    Opinions greatly appreciated.

    I'd say if it was rings it would be peristent hot or cold. Not stem oil seals ether as that would show on hot start after 10-20 mins shut off. Maybe to start with look at PCV valve issues, that would be a lot cheaper than a turbo!
    BTW did you only notice this when it got cold in the past month or so?

    U don’t mention what year or model the car is so I could tell u more if I new which engine was fitted is it the n47 twin turbo engine???
