There is no pre-production on Liveline. Or very minimal. Like setting up the voice changer for John "I'm addicted to Prawns" or Delia who used to go by the name Dave.

They never realise it's a bad line until they are on talking with Joe so they don't check that before hand. Nor remind people to turn off their radios.

In 2009 when I phoned in (same show the late Frank Deasy was on, looking for a new liver) the procedure was that they phoned me back a moment later, told me to ensure radio was off and stay listening to show on the phone until Joe called my name. I was the last or second last speaker on the day. They had actually ensured line was good and working etc. Don't know what they are up to these days. Actually I think I was on a nice clear landline, as a cousin who had walked into a shop with radio on in background was startled to hear my voice booming out louder than Joe's and nearly dropped her purchases.

There are many arts companies, amateur groups, musical societies and dance academies that don't have the benefit of panto handouts.

Killarney and Limerick venues getting dosh = bad

I'm not a snob and I enjoy what would be regarded as low brow entertainment as much as the next guy but I think to refer to what Sammy Sausage provides as 'art' is a bit of a strech
